what type of wiring would I need to fit and connect this to the main?

The one I received-simply had a live and neutral wire which I connected where a light bulb fitting used to hang from the ceiling in a standard ceiling rose fitting. Be aware that the connecting cable is quite short leaving you little option with positioning unless you are able to add a length of similar sized cable with a proper safe fitting
