It is felt type material covering something. I don't know what is behind the felt. I have mounted military decorations and pins with no problems.

Google "Velcro" and you will see. It is just a strip of velcro. when you try to display flat objects such as a challenge coin, simply cut a little pin to attach the sticky side to the coin. And then, attach the velcro to the backing to adhere to the back.

I was charged for shipping cost when free shipping was advertised? i need to be replied why shipping costs were added to my final bill.

Can i ask what is the final price you paid for? So, on Amazon there are 3 selling methods or ways. First, is sold by Amazon. Amazon basically buy the merchandises from manufacturers and sell to you. The own the inventory, and ship direct from their warehouses. The second method is "Sold by (third party seller's name), and Fulfilled by Amazon". That is when sellers like us send inventory to Amazon warehouses. We own the inventory until it is sold. Amazon offer Prime customer free shipping for those 2 methods. For those sold by third party sellers and fulfilled by Amazon they actually pass on the shipping charges to us. So, all third party sellers sending inventory to Amazon would factor in all those charges into the total price. That is why the prices with free shipping is always higher than the price for those "third party seller fulfilled" (before the shipping is added). Now, the third method Amazon offer is "seller fulfilled". That is when inventory "sold by Amazon" or "Sold by third party seller, and Fulfilled by Amazon" are SOLD OUT. They will rotate to "third party fulfilled" option until the inventory for Amazon Fulfilled is restock. When you buy I believe those that were Fulfilled by Amazon were sold out temporarily. And it was rotated to us. OK, you paid $$39.95 plus $12 shipping fee, alright. That is $51.95 total. Now, you will see the listing Fulfilled by Amazon at $49.95 with free shipping correct. That is because we have to added all the fees to the price. Now, you would ask why is there a $2 difference. That is because we have only one single warehouse in California. Amazon has over 100 warehouses over the U.S. and can always ship from the closer one to you. And for their size they get very very deep discount from UPS. That is why the difference. OK. When you are comparing free shipping as advertised please consider the price that was listing with free shipping and the price that wasn't with free shipping. We did reduce the price to $39.95 which is $10 less than the $49.95 with free shipping so that would compensate large part of the shipping fee paid.
