### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ An Excellent Guitar
*by on Reviewed in the United States November 28, 2015*

After looking at this and other Blueridge guitars over the past year or so, I finally bought this one when I saw the price drop below 500 (for just a few hours..! I had barely bought it when the price went back up).I had never played a Blueridge, so I was very shy about buying it online, but there are no Blueridge dealers near me where I could try one. I had to rely on reviewers being honest and accurate, and I'd seen and heard an awfully lot of good reports..When it arrived, I let it sit in the box for 2 days to acclimate from the cold wx before I opened it. It was packed pretty well and sustained no damage in shipping. I removed the wrapping on the strings and shook the 3 silica gel packs out of the body, which was somewhat difficult, and tuned it up. It shipped with the strings quite slack. The neck is thinner than just about any guitar I have played, but it played very nicely. It came with D'Addarios from the factory (probably med/light). The tone is exceptional, which is subjective, but most seem to agree. Very full with good presence in the high-mids.. some very good 'ding', like you might expect if there were medium strings on it. I normally use a Blue Chip TD35 pick and love it, but I've found that my old trusty Fender thins sound much better on this particular guitar. The type of pick you use can make a BIG difference.I play mostly bluegrass, and this guitar is GREAT for that. That hi-mid presence will punch right through if you need it to, and a softer strum gives you a very nice rhythm warmth and fullness. It has surprising volume. I find myself needing to back off sometimes. That's not a bad thing. Better plenty than too little.I also do a little finger picking, and I noticed that the strings are spaced slightly wider at the saddle than typical, which some finger pickers would like.I gave it to one of the best luthiers in this region to look over and tweak out for me. He told me (twice) that it was a very nice guitar, especially for what I paid. He said he couldn't really improve the action significantly from the way it came from the factory. He and I were both pretty stunned. He said the fret wires were a bit tall at about .040 (which affects the way the action feels), and they were just a little bit 'gritty', so he polished them a bit (which helped), adjusted the neck just a little, put on some EJ16's, and Voila! A poor man's Martin! My other main option was a Taylor 110e, which is very nice, but I'm glad I got this BR140. Unlike the Taylor, the BR140 uses all solid tone wood (no plywood), so the sound will mellow with age and will be a better overall investment, especially for what I paid. I'm a happy camper.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great guitar at an amazing price!!! Every guitarist should have one
*by on Reviewed in the United States June 28, 2018*

The tone is very well rounded, I can play anywhere on the neck and the guitar will be full.... Very balanced and seems to be aging very well... Love my baby, I haven't been song writing for your about 3 years, now I'm back at it... The beauty of the tone has inspired me to get back on the horse... I got it for almost 600$.. Woulda payed 1500$ if I even had that much at the time, starved for the rest of the pay period and still be happy, hahaha, great guitar.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Rich deep drone sounds makes my ears buzz happy!
