OWC 2.0TB HDD miniStack USB 3.2 Storage Solution

Easy install and setupFan is noticeable over the stock mini fan on about 3k rpm.Cosmetics are create with the exemption of the inductor light on the front.Power adapter is super cheap and is not to the same build quality or standard as the unit itself.

I had purchased from OWC in the past and they come highly recommended. The Ministack was essentially plug and play with a simple set of installation instructions and step by step software included.The unit is very solid feeling and I like having a cooling fan for the drive. As described it is the same size as the actual Mac Mini and they make a very clean little stack on the desktop.If I had one criticism, it’s the blue Led “on” indicator is too large and bright. But that’s just being picky.

I bought a new Mac-Mini, invested more in the cores, processor and memory than storage knowing this was available. Glad I bought it, doesn’t exactly match the new Mini but works great so far.

I purchased two of these drives, a 4tb and a 2tb. The 2tb works fine, but the 4tb has died after a very short time. It was constantly disconnecting, constantly spinning, making noise, etc... It finally died, with all my movies and tv shows on it! The 2tb had a seagate drive in it, worked well, the 4tb had a toshiba drive in it. Guess this isn't really OWCs fault, they didn't make the drive, just disappointing the quality and frustrated that I now need to find all my movies and tv shows from old drives and move them back.

Matches the M-1 Mac mini very well. Quiet and cool with 8TB drive. Feet on bottom keeps it from sliding. I may buy another one, they stack so well.

This is a good match for my Mac Mini and external storage which I use for household time machine purposes.

Fit and finish is great. The casing is actually aluminum and not just painted. Works good as a heat sink.

This fits nice with my Mac mini. It houses a 3.5 Disk and the package includes a quality USB 3.1 Cable.

Works as it should, bit big for a 2.5" SSD (I would recommend a different product for that) - but if you want to push in a big fat 3.5" HDD - it is perfect as it matches nicely my new Mac mini M1.Easy enough to unscrew and put back together, although one of the screw plastic support broke on me as I tightened it too much, no big deal as 3 screws is plenty but beware it is fragile despite its sturdy metal look.Also, starting to show its age as it could do with a refresh and have faster/better connections! (like thunderbolt / USB-C). We need a new model soon! Maybe with double SSD and hub popup! Still, good enough if you can snap it under £75 like I did.

The unit was supplied with a UK Three Pin Electrical Plug at one end of the cable, and with a Two pin plug at the other end of the supplied cable. The problem is that the unit itself doesn't have a Two pin electrical input, but a Single electrical input. Therefore, the whole unit is unusable. While a US 2 pin electric cable was supplied, and with the correct single pin connection at the other end, it is incompatible with the UK system.

I used this miniStack enclosure to hold a Samsung 870QVO 1TB SSD and X5 1TB SSD for a stack of Mac Mini 2018 and M1 Mac Mini 2020 Apple computers.The OWC miniStack dimensions are same as the Mac mini computers.All cable connections located out of the way at the enclosure rear.The OWC miniStack fan is low noise.

Kaum hatte ich es bestellt, war es schon da...Der Einbau der neuen 4TB-Festplatte dauerte keine 10 Minuten.Die Initiierung unter Mac OS 10.13.6 erfolgte ähnlich flott.Die Abmessungen stimmen zu 100 %.Farbe ... zu 93 % ...? (etwas zu hell)Was mir gar nicht gefällt ist die viel zu große Status-LED,die von der Fläche her bestimmt 40 x größe ist als die desMac Mini und einen in der Folge regelrecht blendet.Da das Teil aber einen mehr als robusten Eindruckhinterlässt und ich es sowieso nur als Backup-Mediumnutze sind 4 von 5 Sternen fast schon etwas knausrig ...

A welcome addition to my home theatre, lots of storage and functions as a secondary back up disc for all my mac stuff.
