Nice set. Great for people who just like to create with hands or like Legos. Might need to buy a base plate to build things on.
I spent many, many hours playing with Legos as a kid and I love randomly building things with them now much later in life.I don't think you have to be an architect to enjoy this set, just enjoy working/building with your hands. These are mostly white pieces and also a bunch of clear pieces. There are many tiny parts. Lots of different sizes.Included is a booklet of Architecture to give you inspiration on what you could build. The set does not come with a base plate to build on, so you might plan on getting one of those if you don't have one.The box is sturdy and there are a few dividers, but I plan to get a plastic container to store/sort the pieces more effectively.I might also get one of those classic Lego pieces pack to add color or patterns in certain areas of what I build. You can get if you want a big selection of white and clear pieces to supplement your current set or if you want to have this particular set.

Fantastic!
This out-of-production set is more expensive than when it was originally available which is understandable. Despite the extra cost I think Architecture Studio is still a good buy. 1200+ all white (cream really) and "clear" pieces makes for a formidable "starter" set. I call it a starter because eventually I want to purchase more of this kit to make bigger structures. The book is great and I highly recommend getting the Lego Architect book by Tom Alphin which includes some building plans to use with Architecture Studio. I also own other Architecture series kits: Falling Water, Farnsworth House, Villa Savoye, and Robie House. While those kits are fantastic in their own right it's nice to have a kit more suited to freeform/sandbox design. A great idea on Lego's part. I hope Lego brings out an Architecture Studio 2 kit with more pieces and of a wider variety of block types.I also want take a moment to comment on using Amazon.com to buy the kit for a Canadian destination. It was cheaper to buy Studio even with current exchange rate via .com rather than .ca. I paid a bit extra for shipping with tracking. The package ended up arriving 5 days earlier than expected delivery date. No wonder Jeff is so wealthy, Amazon does a great job getting these type of items to the customers on a daily basis which keeps me continuing to purchase from Amazon CA or US.

On my second kit! Why I like...
This is my second kit purchase in the past year, and I love it (them). It's also my first Lego purchase (in my life). Here's the appeal as a wanna-be architect...1. You can improvise in building stuff. There's no defined beginning, middle and end as with other Lego kits.2. I'm not a kid, so the all white bricks appeal to me. Clean, simple.3. It's all about critical thinking. I see this as appealing to ages teen and above. It really appeals to adults like me.4. There are a lot of small pieces that, over time, I've learned to use. That's part of the challenge. Start with the basic bigger pieces and get more emboldened over time! Trust me, there's enough to toy around with. Trial and error, you might say.5. The book that comes with it is nice/pretty, kinda self-serving. BUT for broader concepts and ideas I recommend The Lego Architect by Tom Alphin. Also, if you live in a big city like me (Chicago) there are plenty of inspirations.6. Yep, it could use a big base plate. I bought a set of base plates (non-Lego) but they were a tad flimsy/non-secure to construct a base, so I've been sticking with the plates provided. Just connect and reinforce 4-5 or more.7. Finally as you can see from my pictures, it's all about trial-and-error and improvising. And, again, critical thinking and having fun with the process.I think one day I might buy a third kit (when the price and money is right) as some things I have built I love and don't want to tear them apart and start over (although I have built a few that didn't quite feel "right" and I deconstructed those).Bottomline: I love Lego Architecture Studio. This would also make a great/unique gift for any older teen or adult of ANY AGE.

Freeform Building
This is the perfect set for adult builders who want to exercise their own creativity and make their own builds; or are interested specifically in architecture since this set comes with a book on architectural principles instead of specific build instructions and all the pieces are white or clear to make it easier for you to focus on the form of what you're making instead of having to follow a preset design. One caveat is that it doesn't come with a large base so you'll have to pick one up separately and the piece count isn't large enough to build big so you might want to supplement the basic set with more pieces in the same color for added size and detail.

Will buy it again!
As an architect, I wish this was around when I was back in college. It is an amazing set, great for making models and studying forms. There are 2 things which I would enhance; it would have been better if it came with a base and if you build in larger scales, you will run out of lego pieces. That is why I intend to purchase another one.

The product itself was in perfect, new condition
The product itself was in perfect, new condition. My wife just didn't find this as appealing as the sets with the instructions on how to build something specific. This set will take a lot of imagination.
