'Just Grace' is anything but, she is an intelligent, willful, funny young girl. She has set about to record her thoughts and life. What she says is what most young people think, they just don't verbalized their thoughts. She is not at all snotty as described by another reviewer. She is a real little girl who feels free to express herself, she does not feel she needs to inhibit her thoughts.Grace is one of four Graces in her grade. It would seem that unless the was the only class in her grade that someone made a big mistake in putting four young girls in the same class named Grace. However, the teacher tries to handle this so all the a Graces will feel respected. There is some resentment, but they soon get over it. Grace goes on to tell us about some funny and some humbling episodes in her life. The first part of the book is about what may have gone wrong, but the second part of the book is about what goes right in her life. A new friend can make a world of difference, and that is what happens with Grace.The storyline is very appropriate, and so well written. The illustrations are vivid and depict the adventures of Just Grace. A lively, funny, warm story for all.Recommended. prisrob 08-08-14

I'm always looking for good books to share with my nieces and nephews. Just Grace definitely makes the cut. The heroine is engaging and engaged. She learns and grows through her adventure. And she genuinely tries to do the right thing, even when her inner monologue is less that completely kind. Loved her "superpower" and quirkiness. Can't wait to share this book with the kids in my life.

This is from my 7-year old daughter:I read this book in a day and a half. I couldn't put it down. I liked that Grace was so funny all the time and drawing silly comic strips. Kids my age would love this book.

I liked Just Grace cause of it being funny and loved the cartoons drawn. I had toreador this book with some 3rd graders and they loved it too.

6 yr old not overly interested - she loves to read, loved "The Eights" series, looking for something comparable, something with action and humor while maintaining enough suspense to carry over to the next evening. We have been reading via telephone at bedtime as sher lives in MA and I live in MD

This book was fun to read to my little one who doesn't like anything scary or complicated and I don't like anything violent or gross or with snotty characters. Simple, cute and easy to understand!

Perfect book for girl ages 8-10 years old especially if she doesn't love to read. I'm always looking for books that my daughter will not only read, but willKEEP reading after she's a few chapters into the story.

たまたま手にとって見たら私が読めそうなレベル(たいした洋書は読めない)の洋書だったので、買ってみました。Just Graceというタイトルは、偶然クラスに同じグレースという名前の女の子がいて、担任の先生が区別をつけるためにそれぞれの名前に少しだけ手を加えたものを提案します。最後に残った主人公のグレースは、ただのグレースって名前が使われていないのなら、私の名前は何も付けずにという意味で“just Grace”にして！と先生に言ったところ、先生が「わかったは、じゃああなたはjust Graceね」となったのです。日本語でも相手にニュアンスが伝わらないことがあるけど、英語でも同じなんだと思いました。アメリカの子供の日常生活がこうなのかはわからないけど、日本に住むわが子と同じ年頃のアメリカの女の子の生活に変わりがないと思うほど、とても身近なお話に感じています。漫画を読んでいる感覚で楽しめます。この本に始まり、現在８巻までそろえました。９巻、１０巻もまもなく発売のようです。

読んだときは驚きました。日本人が書くような内容とでもいうのでしょうか、微妙な心の動きや人間関係の話がメインです。作者の書いた挿絵や漫画も多く入っていて、自虐的なギャグも多いので、ちびまる子を思い浮かべました。無理やりキャラ設定して冒険や探偵ごっこをする児童書じゃないので、大人も冷めずに読めると思います。
