Finger guard, 'nuff said. I use one of these when I do carving work with gouges, I put it on my first finger on the hand that is holding the wood (I am left handed, so I hold the wood with my right), and this keeps me from pushing the gouges into my finger. Simple as that.

I have ordered several of these at different times throughout the last year or so. What I have found is that regardless of the size you order they have no consistency in the sizes. I have ordered small, medium, and large to carry for our employees. The package will say the size that you ordered but the size inside could be any size. If you order a thumb protector you might get a finger protector. If you order a large it may be a small or medium. This has happened multiple times. Since I use all the sizes I have let it slide. But I finally decide that I should let people know about my experience. It's a good product but they just seem to have some packaging control issues. I hope this will lead to some improvements on the packaging process. Good luck.

This is a simple thing, that's hard to get right. This one gets it right, it's thin and comfortable, fits well and is easy to remove and replace.If you "pinch cut" with thumb and index finger using super sharp knives, you know the feeling when you discover that during the last 20 cuts, the blade went into your thumb but you didn't feel it until too late. I recently ordere these. They won't stay on and are more a danger than a help.I ended up cutting off the thumb of an old pair of gloves, which worked much better. Stayed on and they didn't fray when knives touched them. DO NOT BUY. BAD. USE OLD GLOVES INSTEAD. paid way too much for something that hindered my work! I wised up and hope all who see these do also.

I'm really happy with mine works great. After carving for a few hours and constantly pushing on metal chisels and knives with your thumb it starts getting raw and hurtting. There have been a few projects where I had to stop from working. But this really helps a lot I highly recommend it and it's worth the price.

Bought this thumb guard in size Large It is a bit small but is stretching out so fit is minor inconvenience.Real problem is the quality. It started coming apart almost immediately. See pictures.It was an "add on" order so not worth messing with a return. I'll just repair it myself, but quality is disappointing.

I just received this a few minutes ago but have owned a few others. Off hand I can confidently say this is the best of the bunch I’ve owned. The fit is much better than others I’ve had, right but not too tight and no “slop”. The leather is more rigid than others I’ve had which I think will be good. This is also the least expensive thumb guard I’ve purchased. Nothing to not like about it!

Yeah the finger guard is good, but it was great when it was brand new, but after use after some time, the leather part discolored, and hardened a lot more, its becomes easier for it to slip out when i switch to do other tasks besides cutting vegetables , i just hope i won't lose it unaware, but if you statically just cut it should be fine. i may need to find some way for it to tighten on to my finger in the future.

This was purchased to use as a guard for a pusher thumb whilst whittling.I don't see how this can fit any thumb. I don't have big hands and ordered medium but it is extremely small in diameter. I checked the packaging twice to confirm that it really was labelled as thumb and medium. The leather is not particularly thick either. Not worth returning, I'll keep it for use as a finger guard at sometime. As for my thumb, I don't think I will be ordering the large one, I will just cut the thumb off of some old motorcycle or rigger gloves.

The item I recieved worked for about 5 minutes before the painfully tight elastic started becoming unstitched from the leather. Far too tight for even the smallest of thumbs, completely cut off circulation. I suppose at least I wouldn't have bled too much if the knife did pierce the leather? Hmm...

Good idea but I would recommend a glove. I found they weren't very secure and didn't fit very well

Unfortunately I didn't like this, it was too large for my finger so it kept falling off, one size does not fit all as we don't all have the same sized fingers. That said, good quality and item is otherwise as described
