I love my new Kindle Fire HDX
I have already got two other tablets, a 10 inch Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 and a 7 inch Alcatel Pop One Touch ( which I signed up to on impulse while in the EE shop for something else. With 10gb of data included, I thought it was a good deal.)The reason I wanted this Kindle Fire was for reading books. The Alcatel screen resolution was so poor I couldn't read for long without my eyes hurting. I got the 4G version so I could put my data SIM in.This model came with a Vodafone sim. There was a link on the home screen to pay for data. As I was using my own SIM I deleted the link. I had to Google how to put my own SIM in, but it was quite easy when I watched a YouTube video. The screen resolution of the HDX is amazing. Much better than my Samsung Galaxy S5 phone even. Perfect for reading. As this is not just a reading device I've found myself using it to watch videos on Amazon Instant, for which there is a link at the top of the home screen. I treated myself to Amazon Prime after using the HDX for a few days. Before I turned on the HDX I applied a screen protector which I had bought at the same time. This has anti reflective properties and cost about £11 I would fully recommend using one to improve your experience of this device.I have had the device since Christmas and it has frozen a couple of times, I just turned it on and off again to solve the issue. As I bought this when it was on offer for cyber Monday , it came with the special offers included. These are not as obtrusive as I expected, they are only on the Lock Screen. You can pay £10 to have it removed but I don't think I will bother as they don't really bother me.The Amazon Apps store is still a bit limited, and doesn't have all of the apps available as on Android, but as I bought this primarily as an eReader I don't mind that much. The main apps I've noticed which aren't available are the Google apps and YouTube. I believe Facebook is available but I haven't installed it, keeping that on my phone only.I hope this review has been helpful, if a bit rambling!

Still the best one since 2013
This is nearly 5 yrs on and the picture on this modest tablet that cost me £100 is still superior to any of the 2017 models of the All New Fire. My partner got a Fire 7. It's not as crisp, it's a low internal storage and feels cheap in comparison. The old way of having a home screen and carousel is so much easier. I have 64gb internal storage so great for Amazon Prime. The All New Fire has only 8gb and although there is an ad card slot and up to 256gb cards are available, that's no good if your video provider apps allow downloads for offline viewing on the device internal storage only. That is the main reason for wanting memory for your Amazon products. Hopefullybbyvthe time you read this, Amazon will allow apps to run apps and download films etc to the sd card, even if they restrict portability to other devices invalid be good. In the meantime I'm happy with my superior tablet. The new ones are too long and narrow and aren't right for books or films, especially letterbox formats. I might 've tempted to get a reconditioned hdx7 or hdx8.9, otherwise ill hop to a Samsung tablet and at least get the full Android experience and Google Play Store apps as well as a superior picture.Amazon did a good thing making a sturdy but cost effective mid range tablet but then left it all behind in the early 10s when the Internet was good, with less fake news, no listicles, the major newspapers could mostly spell correctly and Facebook was for keeping in touch with real life friends rather than a massive human endeavour to find fake love or market yourself. Yes, my little hdx7 reminds me of recent but retro happier times when I believed that technology was changing the world for the better

SAVE YOUR MONEY
It was great while it lasted all of 10 months. At 5 months it stopped working and I had to reboot it by keeping my finger pressed down on the power button, then at 10 months it died. Wouldn't boot up, wouldn't charge, wouldn't do a thing. I stupidly thought I was out of the 12 month guarantee but also looked on You Tube to see if I could fix it myself. Apparently their is a design fault where the power input is very fragile and can break easily. But to open it up and fix it you had to use a hairdryer to open it because it is glued together not screwed. Also if I did try to take it apart there was a high likelyhood I would bust the screen. So I won't be buying shoddy product like this again. Laughingly just after I found out about the unfixablity of this product the price droppe from £120 to £49.99, says it all really. So my advice to anyone considering buying this, SAVE YOUR MONEY, buy a decent tablet instead.
