Just what I'm looking for!
I'm so pleased with this book. We use it for homeschooling, but it would be fine for a brief afterschooling reinforcement.I'm sorry there is no "look inside" because the pages are of a nice font, enough room to work problems, and the pages aren't "busy" but are visually appealing.I like it because it is a completely different curriculum than we are using (US edition Singapore) and helps me see what USian kids are getting, it usually hase 4 questions kiddo does immediately without a thought, 4 or 5 he has to think a little over, and one we need to discuss. It also has shown him just how FAR he's come, and how MUCH math he really knows. That encouraged him. You see, most of math is constantly moving onto something new and unfamiliar, and can whack at the morale. I know it did when I was a kid. This encourages him. He does it without a fuss or comment while I'm at work, and then we go over it at the beginning of our school time.

Quick and Concise, but lacks Algebra
It covers similar curriculum of most other 5th grade math books and is definitely a great supplement.HOWEVER, it lacks a significant number of algebraic questions that's covered in California's Standardized 5th grade test. Source: http://www.cde.ca.gov/ta/tg/sr/documents/rtqgr5math.pdfWith the exception of a few questions in the workbook, the vast majority of the product lacks basic algebra supplementation. Which, if you check out the copy of CDE, contains a significant number of questions on it.I've looked into other 5th grade workbooks and they all seem to lack a focus on half the advanced questions on the standardized test. Just something to note for customers trying to prep their kids for tests at the end of the year and not just supplement their education.

I love MATH minutes because it reviews different skills that the student should have already had. I have used all the Math Minutes from 2nd-5th and LOVE all of them. They are a fast way to see at a glance what skills your students need help on still. There are basic instructions when needed but there isn't a lot of wordy instructions for the students to "get lost in"I HIGHLY recommend the Math Minutes to ANY teacher who wants a quick assessment of where their students are on a specific skill (it tells you in the front what skill are covered which day)

Excellent tool for spiral review, and gentle and sequential introduction to new concepts.
Math Minutes are really a great way to review some concepts, and gently and sequentially introduce concepts yet to come. In this way, when I formally cover the new topics, students are already familiar with the concepts! They make a perfect "Do Now" activity.

Perfect for daily review
I love these Math Minute books. Each page takes about 5-10 minutes and is great for summer review.

but it gives me a great launching point to see what areas need additional practice
This book is exactly what I needed to add in additional math practice with my homeschooled 5th grader. Each page doesn't take too long to overwhelm him, but it gives me a great launching point to see what areas need additional practice. I've seen his math skills and confidence go up with just a "minute" a day of extra practice in addition to our math curriculum.
