Great product, wonderful relief
The unit is small, quiet and it works!!! Using ice is the best, but I ended up using 4 small plastic juice bottles filled 3/4 and refreeze them after use. I can put the pad on my shoulder start the unit and sit and read while it circulates the ice water. After 7 months of almost daily use the velcro is starting to not hold as well on the pad, but it is stll holding well enough. Worth every penny. Love it! Pain relief is temporary, but that is the nature of icing not a fault of this unit. By using the refreeze bottles I don't have to dump the unit after each use making for less maintenance. The temperature of the water gets down to 40 degrees, probably not quite as cold as using real ice in the water.

Heaven on Earth
If you have any nagging injuries or are recovering from surgery, get this. its worth its weight in gold. It will make it easy to get cold therapy without having to deal with leaky bags of ice & bandage wraps. it fits comfortably & works immediately. Only thing that works better is a 4000 dollar machine in my PTs office but not by much.

Very poorly designed
I have previously owned the ossur cold therapy system and it was great. However, after my surgery 3 years ago, I stored it away in a closet and it no longer works. I mistakenly ordered this machine thinking it was the exact same one, not noticing the COMPACT in the label. Do not buy this machine. It is very poorly designed. There is a large rod attached to the lid that must be plummeted into the ice, making 16 oz frozen bottles, or any other large chunk of ice, out of the question as you cannot get the lid on. I can get 2, sometimes 3, frozen 8 oz bottles in it, and then the rest ends up needing to be just ice cubes. Then, after wrestling the lid on for 5 minutes, I get a somewhat cold reservoir that has to be changed again in 2-3 hours. Do yourself a favor, spend the extra $50 and get the non-compact version of this machine. It works great and can hold a ton more ice. This machine is going back.

Good value for the money, does what it needs to, but could use a few improvements.
I purchased this because it was in the appropriate price range for us and I got it for a shoulder surgery. This is my second rotator cuff surgery so I'm not new to this rodeo. I knew this time I was going to need my own ice machine I did a significant amount of research to find one in my price range that would do what I needed. That being said, I have used this multiple times and I am on day 20 of recovery. It works well to provide pain relief, please pay attention to that aspect as that's the most important. What it is missing is the ability to apply compression and helpful sort of way. The professional models are rigged in a way when they are on top of you that allows them to give whole arm and shoulder compression. Unfortunately the machine itself works well but the shoulder pad itself does not really provide a lot of compression. It's also very difficult for one person to put on, but let's be honest there's no way around that no matter which machine you have so I don't think that that's a very fair assessment for people to give these machines. Using these machines any of them, is it two person job. The fasteners that they give you to put on to keep the shoulder pad on you and the way that they have to go around your body don't really secure the shoulder pad in a way that's very helpful. I think with some adjustment of the shoulder pad design this would be one of the best ones on the market that you could purchase. And honestly for an additional $30 or $40 more maybe even $50 more, I would still consider buying this model as long as it's shoulder pad had better compression. It should be noted that the circulation in the shoulder pad also seems to be not so great about 3 in from the edge of the entire shoulder pad. That's a lot of surface area that doesn't get cold. That's an area for improvement for sure. I'm guessing because the shoulder pad itself is thin allowing it to be malleable and bendable, and by the time the cold water passes over your joints by the time it gets to the edge it is already warm and possibly circulating back. However the surface area could be vital depending on the type of surgery you get.Just trying to give a thorough review. But like I said for this price range it's going to be difficult to find anything that works much better.

Post Surgery MUST HAVE. Worth every dime!
Had rotator cuff surgery and bought this based off a friend telling me it was a must have. He was right! It’s didn’t hurt to wear, even the day after surgery. it’s cold but not cold enough to freeze your arm and become uncomfortable. It’s been 2 weeks and I Still use it everyday and night. It works as good as the meds lol.Bottom of cooler sweats a little so place towel under it.

Good like the cold rush better
The cold rush is colder and the ice lasts longer because of the adjustable flow. I have both (active athletes in this house one had shoulder surgery the other miniscus within a week of one another) so we have both of the Ossur's and the cold rush with the adjustable flow is a better machine as you can make is colder or warmer. We had no quality issues like I read about online they are both well made. I also took a really hard look at the tubes and the one's in the cold rush are EASILY replaced if you ever have a leak. So, I really do like this and the cold rush machines.

This worked great, until it didn't
This machine was absolutely amazing, when it worked. Stayed cold for about 5 hours after filling. I definitely went through alot of ice! Much better cooling than an ice pack and didn't sweat and get everything wet. Pad was a good size for shoulder, able to cool the front and back. Needed help to get it on and off if I needed to move around though. Unfortunately, each time it was hooked back up was a surprise whether it was going to work or not. Sometimes it took 5 tries unplugging and replugging to get it to work, other times I just gave up and used ice packs for a while. If it was more reliable, it would be 5 stars.
