It's about a group of school children and their teachers when they go for their annual holiday in Whitby, North Yorkshire. The main character Fliss Morgan has an eerie dream that makes her feel a bit dubious about going on the holida the night before they set off. On arriving things don't seem as bad until the clock strikes 13 each night. One of the girls become ill and has to stay at the hotel. It is up to Fliss and her friends to stop the fiend in the linen closet from terrorising more girls and saving their own friend.... Review: Spooky! - hi, i thought this was a very spooky book ...some part keeping you suspence as any good book should. A bit of a stereo type for my liking. Robert swindell flits between 1st and 3rd person(interesting).Fliss and her friend go on a school trip to witby and discover room 13 . It has a major effect on ellie may but what is happening????????

Unputdownable!
I started reading Room 13 by Robert Swindells with my class in preparation for our trip to Whitby – and we were all instantly hooked! The suspense, the atmosphere, and the creeping sense of dread had everyone desperate to know what would happen next. I couldn’t resist and ended up finishing the book myself in the car on the way to the coast yesterday – it was just too good to put down. The story follows Fliss and her friends on a school trip to Whitby, where they’re staying at the eerie Crow’s Nest Hotel. Oddly, there is no Room 13… or at least, that’s what they’re told. But at midnight, the door of the linen cupboard next to Room 12 seems to transform into something far more sinister. And while this mystery deepens, strange changes are happening to Ellie-May Sunderland – changes that feel dark, dangerous, and otherworldly. Swindells masterfully builds tension and suspense, making this a true page-turner. It’s spooky, atmospheric, and the perfect blend of mystery and horror for young readers (and adults too!). My class are loving it. Looking forward to finishing it with them. If you want a chilling, unputdownable read with just the right amount of scare factor, Room 13 is a brilliant choice. But maybe don’t read it under the covers at midnight… unless you’re brave enough!

My class loved this book!
I have used this book with my Year 5 class as our class novel and they have thoroughly enjoyed it! Here are a sample of their reviews. Firstly, I absolutely loved this book! Me and my class have just finished Room 13 and in my opinion it's my favourite book so far! It's about 4 friends (Fliss, Lisa, Trot, Gary) who go on a school trip and find a terrifying discovery. Ellie-Mae (AKA - the girl in danger) has someone always watching her, but luckily these 4 are here to save the day! This book will be suitable for 8 + because younger children would get upset easily. But I'm over 8 and I really enjoyed it. Evie Aged 10. A group of friends go to The Crow's Nest Hotel, but Fliss has doubts about this trip. I really enjoyed it because of the character progression and story. People around 10 could find this relatable since the people in the book seem to be 10. People who love thrillers will love this book, and anyone who likes sci-fi. In my opinion, it's a spooky story which is really fun to read and you should try reading it. Matteo aged 10. This is an amazing book and it is one of the higher books of my favourite books. It is about a few friends that went on a trip from to school to the eerie Crow's Nest Hotel, but one of the friends is acting a bit strange. Fliss and her friends have to find out what's happening. I think that teenagers of the age 10-14 would like this book beacuse it has some vocab in that younger children wouldn't understand. Paul Age 10.
