Excellent series!
Last semester I took a Javascript/jQuery course in college and we used this series. I absolutely loved it! Finaly a book that didn't bore me to death with pointless information. I wish every technology course would use the books in this series. Now that I am learning Dreamweaver I decided to get this book on my own and have found it just as useful. The book is fairly thick around 1000 pages, but the size of the book is a little smaller than most large texts which I really like. Since I do already know html I decided to do the tutorials in order to learn quickly and then go back and read the actual content of the chapter. I also really loved this 2nd edition book because it has been updated to the Dreamweaver CC 2014 version, where most of the other books there's some sections where menus have moved or been changed, which is very frustrating for someone trying to learn. Would definitely recommend this book.

Great book, very straight forward
I had dabbled around with Dreamweaver for a few years and could never quite gain much proficiency with it. Even the Adobe online tutorials didn't offer much help. I got this book and followed the tutorials and within one week I was able to build a professional looking website. The only drawback with the book is the use of third party software for menu creation. Other that I would highly recommend this book. You do have to be intuitive and there is some experimentation involved but all the basics are there.

This is a good book. DW makes me think of MS Excel ...
This is a good book. DW makes me think of MS Excel - hugely in need of modernization, particularly in the area of responsive - but it you are going to use DW, this will help.

Great Book for Learning Dreamweaver CC
Another great "How To" book by David Sawyer. Very readable, well detailed with plenty of hands on tutorials to apply what you have just learned. It provides in-depth information for beginners, intermediates and advanced web designers.

Out of date
My two star rating is for this book in 2020, when it's six years out of date. In 2014 I would have given it four stars.Probably the most serious problem for a book that gives instructions step-by-step is that the Dreamweaver menu bar has been changed. In 2014 the bar included drop down menus for Modify, Format, and Commands. As of 2017 they're gone. Tools and Find have been added. Many steps in the tutorials begin with the Modify menu: items from the submenu have since been moved to Edit and Tools (Adobe has a page covering this). Don't worry, there's more you'll have trouble finding and using. Windows and options, workspaces have changed, moved, deleted, or added since 2014.My primary irritation, though, is with the typography. They thought it would be a great idea to put code, proper names, links (really, anything they thought should be emphasized) in a light gray italic. Even with bright light and a magnifier it's difficult to read. For instance, while telling how to name something in the CSS designer you must use the correct key strokes, in this case a : (colon). The type is so difficult to read it's easy to see it as a ; (semi-colon). Bad code doesn't work.Ever since Adobe switched from a Creative Suite purchase to a Creative Cloud subscription the help book market has dried up. The classroom in a book series is about the only thing out there that's current. For some reason, I do not see them as a productive option. Even with the tutorials in the Missing Manual I'm often frustrated that following their steps doesn't lead to their results. Nor are there sufficient explanations for why they have you doing something. Learning on your own can be stressful at the best of times because there's no one there to tell you about that one little thing you needed to do but not mentioned in the instructions. Some questionable methods, typos, bad typography, and time have not made this book any easier to use. (Internet resources often come to my rescue but just as often add to the confusion.)

I am a great fan of the Missing Manual series but this book ...
I am a great fan of the Missing Manual series but this book falls well below the standard that I have come to expect. I am not a novice but I found this book difficult to follow and the teaching logic leaves a great deal to be desired. It seems to have been put together by a committee who rarely spoke to each other. Although it purports to cover the 2014 changes one is left wondering what version the authors saw because there seems little of relevance to the software that I have downloaded from Adobe. It would have been better if they had started from scratch and not tried to cobble together something from Dreamweaver CC and the later changes.A huge disappointment
