Her innate ability to create and humanize realistic characters, actually renders her subsequent treatment of those characters as cruel, inhumane, and criminal. The same technique she used to create them, she uses to place them in unbearable circumstances. Ironically, her effectiveness at doing so renders the final part of this work unreadable. Any eroticism at the end belongs in the extreme darkness of emotions that can be loosely described as such.
