It has 300 pieces. My 5 year old granddaughter is able to put the entire frame together without help. However, I think she would need to be 7 or 8 to complete the entire puzzle without help. It is a nice family puzzle. The pieces are easy for all ages to manipulate. We sometimes ave our granddaughter choose a particular balloon to work on and she loves that.
