Mariner Outboards, 1-2 Cylinders, 1977-1989

HA. This gave me some seriously important info on the propeller shaft seals that even my mechanic friend did not have. And it made the instructions clear even for this medium grade mechanic. I used the test grid as given, bought the ignition parts that tested bad, installed them in the order and with the safeties this said use -- and the 1984 Mercury 25 Hp cranked in the first five seconds it turned over. It cranked so fast it surprised me and I turned the key off when I jumped in surprise. After a good laugh I ran it for a half hour on the muffs and took it to the lake. So far (2 months later) it is still doing great.

Some photos are completely worthless; too dark to make out anything. There are great tips and tricks of the trade in the book. I understand that it’s a general book covering many models. However, a torque-spec chart would be helpful.

The pictures in the book that you need to look at to see where things are a very dull and hard to distinguish some items.

I purchased mainly for the fuel system carburetor rebuild, for what ever reason the book did'nt have that info. learned more from an online part store than I did from the book was quite disappointed. The book does have great info just not what I needed

Good, yet generic coverage for Mercury outboard motors. This will do untill I find a model specific manual for my motor.

This book could be found at the local book store used but if it were in stock it would be at the full price of a new book.

This manual has details on the wrong carburetor for my 1987 Mariner 20 HP. All the parts websites have the carburetor right, so it must be this manual that’s wrong.

OK: photos are in black & white. Sometimes difficult to follow due to the many types described But rest is ok.

J'ai cru naïvement que le fait d'acheter un livre sur mon moteur hors bord allait me donner la science infuse,triste jours de réception quand je l'ouvris,mon anglais n'était pas à la hauteur dudit livre.Mon book en inglish me parlait par ses photos et un rudiment d'interprétation.Je l'ai gardé bof il est dans le garage.
