Travels to the Edge: A Photo Odyssey

If you watched the shows, own the DVD set(s), you will want this book.Art Wolfe's parents knew what they were getting into when they named their son ... Art's art is something that you will want to see.I loved the TV series, I own both sets of DVDs, I use them in my college photography classes, and I share them with my middle school Social Studies classes ... and anyone else I can get to watch them with me.This book fits right in there with everything else ... check it out.Now, if I could only get Art to get out there for a third season ...Buy it.If nothing else ... you will add to that Bucket List thing. I have New Zealand (photographed the same sheep ranch), Baja, and ... the reason I knew about it, wanted to go ... Katmai National Park. I HAD to experience the Grizzilies!Buy it. Dream.

Art Wolfe's photography is amazing. If you want a taste of it without buying his full Earth is My Witness book (at 11x14.5" and 8.5 lbs, EiMW is a bit unwieldy), get this one. If you're a fan of nature or travel photography, or have done international traveling yourself, you will love this book. Some people have complained that the photos are TOO brightly colored. They may be slightly altered, but I think as a photographer he was within his artistic rights to do this to achieve his vision. It's certainly some great eye-candy to flip through when you want to relax and get taken around the world.

Buy this book. PLain and simple. I don't understand what that guy was talking about with his one star review. For strictly landscapes there are other photographers out there that are better, but the people and wildlife images in this book are amazing. Wolfe has a great eye for catching people in their environment and bringing the two together. And his wildlife shots are up there with the best.I am a semi-pro photographer so I especially like thet he gives the technical data for each photo at the end of the book.

I am a huge fan of Art Wolfe's PBS series Travels to the Edge. This collection of some of his most spectacular photos along with the narrative is a book that I will enjoy for years to come. My young granddaughters, ages 4, 7, and 9, also find the pictures fascinating. Whether you know Wolfe's work, whether you are an amateur photographer, this book delivers one of a kind photos from around the world that anyone will enjoy.

Am from the tropics...I live in an exotic part of the world. Wild landscapes and islands, and I never take this for granted. The photographs in this books are amazing, but tell a broader story, of how beautiful and complex yet intertwined our world cultures are, and how fragile the environment is....and what we must do to keep it (the environment). Art Wolfe is now one of my favourite photographers.

This was a gift for a friend, and it was a hit. The pages are not as high quality as other photo books I have purchased, but the images are lovely and it is a nice book for people who like to travel, or for those who like Art Wolfe's photography.

Excellent photography and lots of unusual places in the world many of us do not know about. Just enough dialog to accompany photos to give information about the photo.

Art is a skilled photographer and goes to great lengths for a good shot. He has a terrific photographer and this book shows that clearly. His travels give us a chance to visit places many of us will never get to.
