The original AC connection module slides off of the bulk of the transformer and this simply replaces it. Works great! One word of caution. The original AC connection module has the ability to fold the AC prongs back "flush" with the power adapter. When this module is attached, the AC prongs are "fixed" in place. Probably, if you do not move the adapter around much, that is okay. Why Apple insists on making their chargers so unwieldy is anybody's guess. We got new outlets with USB ports and couldn't get the charger to fit because of the horrible design. This little adapter solved that problem. The charger now fits in the outlet and is flush against the wall.
