If you're a new collector, you'll need more books.
While a very good source of information, this book is far from encyclopedic.I've been able to use it to get a clue as to the more obscure pieces of jade-ite I've collected, and that's a plus. However, missing from this book are dimensions and identifying information to help discern from original pieces from more recent reproductions. Some of the descriptions are ambiguous & I have found better sources on the internet. The photography is also lacking, in that when text is lacking, one relies more heavily upon visual information. With only one view of an item, and a short blurb stating the obvious, this book made me kind of cranky -____-For instance...On page 136, you will find a hand beater with a small crock below it. After an exhaustive internet search I found the beater that goes with the crock. It is an A&J Hand Held Mixer with splash guard / shield Stamped "A&J" "Made in USA" and "Patent Oct 9 1923". However, the crock is not marked. You guessed it. I own the crock and was trying to locate it's mate. While I credit this book with cluing me in on this mysterious piece that previously I thought was a flower pot, trying to figure out who it's mate was, wasn't easy.It has a tiny recessed lip that one would guess allows for a lid of some kind to drop right down and seat well across the top of the piece. With this book, I was able to match it's general shape to the beater & crock pictured on p.136. After looking through at all the flower pots in the book and finding no matches, then looking all over the internet yielded no matches, I surmised it was in actuality the beater crock.Reamers are also ambiguously described, no dimensions are given, photography also lacks multiple views -___-It also only hints at what might indicate reproduction pieces. To sum up, I won't be returning the book, but it leaves a collector, who in 2014, requires more information other than a picture and a blurb, as I said before, cranky. Then again, maybe it's just me, lol.

Pictures, prices and reliable information all in one book.
This is a great book for anyone interested in collecting jadite. My wife loves both jadite and milk glass. Until a couple of months ago she had a few pieces that she had acquired over the years and then we found an opportunity to purchase 2 different people’s collections, both retired antiques dealers a month apart. We knew that we had made a couple of great buys but had no Idea exactly how great. We went from owning a few pieces to More than 150 in a month’s time. This book answered all of our questions. If you want a comprehensive guide with pictures and prices of vintage jadite, and modern reproductions, this is it.They both turned out to be really really great purchases, the book was too.

Nice book, but always search to see if there's a newer revision available.
This was a gift. My girlfriend loves Jadite, and this book has great pictures that allows us to see all the cool things. She originally put the prior version of the book on her list, so I searched to see there's a newer one and found this one. It appears to be the latest as of now (July 2019), but it is still a couple years behind for prices, but that's okay for comparison.

An OK book
I bought this book because of the stellar reviews regarding organization, identification and pricing and have really been disappointed. The photography is great and helps with identification WHEN you eventually find what you're looking for. I do not find the book organized in a manner to make identification easy. As an example, I was just looking for a 9 3/4 mixing bowl. Bowls are scattered all over the book. At a minimum, there should have been a page or two with available patterns making it easy to at least look the pattern up in the index once it was identified. Identification of the Jeannette Concentric Ring pattern involved flipping through the entire book. Then, there is the matter of pricing. If this bowl is indeed worth $150-$175, why is it easily found on ebay as having been sold for $60? I do understand pricing varies depending on the quality, but I am seeing no terrible imperfections in the $60 piece. I am using this as only one example of many others I've found being sold far under the value suggested in the book.I love the photography of the book, but it is a disappointment so far as fulfilling the purpose I purchased it for - helping a new collector identify and price pieces she is interested in.

The bible of Jadite
My exposure to the wonderful world of Jadite is very recent. In fact, Jadite picked me I did NOT pick Jadite! While I have learned most of what I know off the Internet, a complete and well illustrated collector's guide for the bookshelf was imperative. This edition, with its plethora of illustrations also makes it an essential companion on those Jadite forays to antique shops. This collector's book is a comprehensive and valuable reference. My only criticism is the lighting used in the photos. Many of the various patterns and details are difficult to easily discern. It could have been much improved with better back-lighting.This is, however, the collector's bible for Jadite. And, at Amazon's low price for a large folio hardcover book, DO NOT put off ordering your copy! It is a beautiful edition for a collector or dealer.

Excellent summary of the available glass in the marketplace.
I am updating the values of my collection of Jadeite Glass and this the primary source for identification and pricing. Although the prices are dated.
