Great little backup disk with WD reliability
This is a great little backup hard drive. Great capacity, small and easily portable. It comes with a USB C to USB C lead and a USB C to USB A adaptor. The adaptor connects to the end of the lead and this gives you the ability to connect the disk to a USB C or USB A port on your PC or Laptop. Very easy to use. If you are going to lug it around in a laptop bag then get a protective case for it to keep dust out of the USB C connection and to protect the hard drive from knocks

I love this harddrive!!
This is a great harddrive - not many for the price I paid at the time (£95 - I think it was on sale) that have a USB-C connection with a 5TB capacity! I bought this harddrive to store all my Premiere Pro, After Effects and DaVinci Resolve files on, and use it when creating videos for my YouTube channel (same name as my Amazon if you want to check me out ;) ). It runs really well, never slow loading and has been very reliable for over a year for me. It's got a nice metallic design, and comes with a USB-A adapter. I would recommend this portable harddrive to anyone who's looking for something great.

One of the best but has issues
Work well, fast and looks great. Only issue I have found is that since these drives use hardware encryption, the encryption module has failed twice now on two different drives rendering them useless.

Perfect Time Machine drive
I purchased this as a Time Machine for my M1 MacBook Pro and haven't been disappointed. Though this isn't the 'Mac' version that WD sells, the only (official) difference is that products are formatted differently out of the box. Well, that's what Disk Utility is for! So save yourself some money. The Ultra version of My Passport features a half metal enclosure (though to be frank it's like tin) and USB-C cable with USB-A adapter, making it convenient for any modern Mac. The drive is much smaller than I anticipated and could easily fit in a jacket pocket! Though the lack of protection suggests this wouldn't be a good idea... Being sat on a desk with its rubber feet, quiet operation and sleek design, I think this makes the perfect Time Machine companion. A general rule of thumb is that your Time Machine should be at least twice the size of your Mac's drive, so 2TB seems to be the sweet spot for most people. Also keep in mind that the 4TB model is not only a lot more expensive but also twice the thickness. No issues!

Lots of storage coupled with fast writing speed
Bought this one after trying a Seagate 2TB and Transcend 2TB Slim. This replaces a ten year old chunky Maxtor with writing speeds of just under 1.5 mbps. I wanted a larger drive to backup three pc's and two laptops, and didn't really know what to expect from the new generation of external drives. Pleasant surprise. Windows discovered the drive straight away. Used the short cable provided and immediately got a write speed of 120 MBPS, which to me is supersonic. The USB-C cable is a plus, as is the security software. The actual drive space is 4.54 TB, which is enough to back up my three PC's. The cosmetic finishing on the drive makes it feel genuinely premium and I also bought the protective case to go with it. This one is more expensive than the main competitors like Seagate but the security feature and cloud backup- and USB-C connection- makes it worth the twenty pounds extra. One word of caution- I tried it with a longer generic USB-C cable and the speed dropped to 20 MBPS. This one is a beauty

Reliable Back-Up Disk
Addition to my 2TB My Passport Ultra. Arrived on time and has been used successfully for backup and assume it will perform for many years as my old 2TB Ultra

Ultra reliable
I've used WD Passports for years. This new one is so fast and loads/records brilliantly. Just plug in and go, so easy. I've still got my old WD Passport which is over 10 years old and still working perfectly (just not big enough).

Subscription Software Required, Slow.
Good, but eventually your free trial of Acronis will expire and you need to use a yearly subscription plan to backup and restore your own files, on your own external hdd using their software. With free trial it is slow, clunky and large restores (which I am working through right now) are hard to export and to collate. Not a smooth process, especially if you have had to reinstall the system more than once and have different backup files. They removed the mount option from Acronis, so recovering from Acronis backup to VHD seems to be the 'fastest' way. Going folder/file at a time is so slow the program seems to freeze for extended periods of time. My latest hdd is a Seagate, hoping they don't require a subscription or have poor software.
