This sucks
Very poor quality tool. It never lines up properly to get an accurate cut.

Blades bend and break easily
Nice design except the blades are super thin. Took one pass on 8oz veg-tan and first of 3 broke. flimsy and not straight cuts due to that. I will try other blades as I like the feel of this tool

Excellent Value
This is a really nice strap cutter for the money. It was very easy to set up and seems solidly built. I bought it to be a middle ground between my Australian style lace cutter and my bench mounted strap cutter, and for that it's excellent. Regarding some of the folks in the Q&A section stating that they haven't found replacement blades for it, I can confirm that both Stanley style utility blades and the injector type blades for safety skivers or lace cutters will work in this unit. It sure looks like snap-off style utility blades would work too although I haven't yet tried it. The blade is held into a slot with two allen screws, so as long as a particular blade fits the slot then the screws will hold it securely. There's really no need to overthink this, it's a simple, reliable tool that gets the job done.

Bad design and will not cut straight
This product has several major defects in the design that made it unusable:1. The blades have an even grind on both sides, so the cutting edge is in the middle of the blade instead of even with the side of the blade. The resulting bevel causes the cut to immediately skew wider the longer you cut. Mine ended up over 1/8" wider after only a foot of cutting. This alone makes the tool basically worthless.2. The blade is held into the arm with a simple set screws, so the blade can snap or shatter when tightened; it happened to me and I had only lightly tightened the set screw.3. The hole in the handle where the arms go through has round corners which will force the two sides of the arm together if your leather is more than 1/8" thick. I had to file this opening square to make work on a non-split cowhide.4. There is a safety risk of cutting yourself because the blade is longer than the arm, so there is exposed blade above and/or below the arm.Summary: A waste of money. I ruined a piece of leather that cost me as much as this cutter by trying to use this tool to make it narrower.

Cheap but cheap
Blade shattered with first use into 4 pieces. Upon receiving it was well packaged, but with required full assembly with no instructions on how to put together. Luckily I knew how.Had a few problems with it.1) cannot handle heavy weight leather. Blade broke when trying to split off a 1/4” strap from a 2” strap of 8 oz veg tan high quality leather. The blade shattered twice. Once in half. And then in half again.2) no blade protectors. Blade protrudes from either end dangerously, requiring clippers to clip excess off.3) the gap you feed your leather through has no mechanism to keep the gap open. Aside from the nuts that hold the razor into place, the spring loaded screw at the other end is completely useless. Does not keep gap open or fixed at a certain width. This gap continuously collapsed on me and required me to undo all nuts and holds and remeasure everything and retighten bolts every time it collapsed.Cheap but cheap.*UPDATE*I added one extra star, mostly because I have figured out a way to make this thing useful, but still cannot use leather over 8oz so dont buy if you are doing heavy weight leather. Comes with 4 or 5 blades. you gotta buy new ones often.

Works well!
This strap cutter works just like the ones double the price in the local leather shops.

Can't go wrong, cut your own straps from your leather sides.
It seems well made, and easy to use. Easy to adjust. I usually order my straps and belt blanks for leather working, but sometimes I need something custom, or just don't want to wait for something to get here. This fits the bill, and honestly straps aren't that hard to cut, nor are they cheap to order. One word of advice: start off with a STRAIGHT EDGE if you want to cut a straight strap. It makes a huge difference. Lay down the straight edge, trace, and cut with a razor knife. The strap or straps you cut after that should be straight, not wavy or crooked.

Nice tool
Nice tool at a good price. Takes a bit to get used to but relatively easy to get a nice, even cut once you get the tool adjusted properly (no instructions included).Negative: A very sharp blade sticks up above the top rail. This presents a significant sharps hazard. Please note, most of the units I reviewed before my purchase have the same issue. I capped the blade with a piece plastic from a spent pen that was filed to fit.

Part puzzle.
Not sure I figured it out yet. It's the only thing out there that does this so don't have much choice. Doesn't have much of an edge to run along the edge of the leather. I pulled two so far and I can't really use them to give anyone, they'd laugh but, I'll get there with a few hundred in wasted leather. The leather I tried is thick as well so that doesn't make it easier. Some Instructions would be appreciated.

Spend the extra $20 and buy from Tandy’s or weaver.
If you’re buying a strap cutter for a hobby of a tool for your shop you should just get one from Tandy’s or weaver as they are more reputable and their strap cutters don’t break upon use, cut at a funny angle, or have inaccurate measurements. Half of an inch on the measuring arm of the cutter is 5 segments long, no other ruler or scale does that if it’s in imperial units.
