I tested two different sources and did get different results, but on some of the tests the colors bleed together even after holding it horizontally as the directions say. I may use it a bit differently next time by cutting and labeling the tests for the ones that bleed the most and using a syringe to dispense the water. So some results were hard to read, but it comes with so many that you can try again until you get it right. We did a couple of test to test the water quality and filter functionality. It's very easy to use and it tests for a lot of different substances. After testing filtered water and just tap water, it looks like our tap water is pretty good to begin with and also the filter is doing its job. We even tested the water at my friend's pool and at my work. It says it is for pools as well as drinking water. Well, I didn't find it useful at all. It definitely does not work for testing pool water because it doesn't tell you the percent or rate of a chemical which is essential to know how much of a chemical to add to get your pool water corrected. It only shows colors if it is OK or not. That means nothing. If PH is like 7.2 it may be OK but it is too low for swimming pools. The same with all of the other chemical readings. I did exactly what the instructions showed but even so the chemicals are so close together that they bleed over onto other measures so you can't even tell if it is okay or not. And when I tested my tap water, it gave readings that are impossible and appear completely unsafe.
