Great, Effective Product. Simple to Install
After losing 2 batches of chicks to predators, I found Chicken Guard on Amazon. It met all of our needs. We wanted to mount it to the interior of the coop and, though we have power in the coop, we wanted it to run on batteries and use a timer vs. a sensor. All of our needs were met. The door to solid enough, and even locks, to keep out predators and is slow enough when closing so it won't hurt our chickens if they are coming/going when it is closing. We love this product so much we purchased another for a second coop where our peacocks live. I highly recommend this product. (You will need to purchase the door and the control unit.) I can now sleep better knowing our chickens and peacocks are safe.

Door works great to lock and release my chickens
I already used the chicken door opener with a homemade door, but switched to this door for my new coop build. It was easy to install, works great and locks at the bottom to secure the door at night. It locks by pushing out a tab on each side of the door frame. The tabs are pulled in to unlock the door, by the lifting up of the center pull tab on top of the door.

Great Door
Great value for the price. Bought this for our chicken tractor coop as an extra safeguard at night. Haven't yet installed an automatic controller as it's working fine with a string that we raise and lower manually. Installation requires basic handy skills. I had to reposition one of the tracks after installation as it ended up crooked on the first try. Works great now. Locks consistently when lowered. I was surprised to find most of the mechanics are plastic which concerned me at first but we've had it a couple of weeks now and it seems pretty sturdy so it looks like it shouldn't be any issue.

No longer locks
Installed this self locking door 6 months ago to replace a wood manual door. We mounted it on the inside of our coop with the ChickenGuard Automatic Door Opener. The opener moves the door VERY slowly, the door is light enough that our impatient Orpington and Brahmas can scoot under and lift it a bit as they hurry out in the morning. Similarly the door has closed on a lingering chicken, it lifts, pauses then attempts to close a moment later, all gentle enough that a Brahma may continue to linger. (We prefer this to the horrific stories of chicken decapitation by other automatic doors.) Install was fairly quick, reframing to fit the new door was the only headache. Would've have given it 5 stars but the self-locking mechanism doesn't work anymore, the wings get stuck inside the door so it's no longer "predator proof".

Works with other brand openers too!
The media could not be loaded. Works well with the “coop defender”. At first I thought I could just use a wood door with my automatic door opener- but it was too heavy and it was not secure enough. This thing works perfectly, was easy to install, and locks so animals cannot lift it up. I was happy to find out it is compatible with a different brand of opener. Highly recommend!

Failed after 3 months.
The door was somewhat easy to install. You have to make sure the tracks are not too wide or too narrow.Since it is summer time and the days are long, we opted to use it manually. It functioned well for the first two months. By month three, you could feel that the mechanism inside was slipping and no longer completely grasping the part that opens and closes the locks.I attempted to contact the manufacturer, but did not hear back. At this point it’s almost useless. It's mostly made of plastic and clearly cannot stand the Florida heat.We initially purchased it due to review and videos showing it preventing it from being opened by predators. It was received as metal, but when we opened it, the door was metal and the rest was plastic including the mechanism to open, close and lock the door. Now, no one can open and close it. It is a complete waste of money. This time we will splurge on something metal instead more plastic crap going into a landfill.

Experienced chicken keeper, highly recommend
Having an automatic door is essential for us as we have nearly 100 chickens, but also a very busy family. We cannot always be home right at dark. We’ve had automatic doors for years. One with wood across the bottom on the exterior to prevent raccoons from opening it and the other in a predator proof run. Well 12 dead chickens and a clutch of eggs set to hatch the following day later taught us nothing we did to secure them this summer was going to help. I purchased these doors to replace ours. I ordered 1 in case my husband didn’t want to take the time to install two. It was easy enough he agreed to install the second as well. We were both highly impressed by the sturdiness of the door. I have tried to lift it open from the outside and cannot once they lock. The track doesn’t get clogged like our old one. One big concern I had was loosing power and the door then being stuck shut….. no problem! You simply lift the string from the inside. These were also less expensive than the flimsy doors we had before. They close slowly and have had no issues with chickens or chicks being in the way.Highly recommend

Easy to install, works well
Easy to install, lightweight door. Works well on my duck house with the extreme weather opener purchased separately. The locking mechanism also works great so nothing (so far) can get in. The only times it hasn't locked is when it is jammed with ice/snow or bedding that the ducks pushed out through the doorway.

Built solid, Operates flawlessly
This is an amazing well built product. A little pricy but is working flawlessly day in, day out for over 6 months. It only took our 6 chickens 3 days to fully adapt to getting themselves in the coup before the door timer was set to close. (The timer is set to close/open with the light sensor set for at sunset/sunrise)
