Fantastic way to combine crochet and cross stitch principles
I taught myself to both crochet and cross stitch many years ago. I've been a cross stitch designer for a number of years, so when I saw this booklet on pre-order I was intrigued by what looked like a combination of both arts.It turns out to be exactly that. It is crochet but it utilizes the “block” system of cross stitch. There are basic stitches involved in making the pattern (slip stitch, chain, and double crochet) though there are other stitches involved in borders and whipstitching pieces together. Once you have mastered the concept of making the blocks, you can use the principle to create your own crochet designs. What is important to remember when trying to crochet your cross stitch patterns is that the patterns must contain full stitches. Quarter and three quarter will not work with this method. A half stitch would work only because you would treat it as a full stitch. Also, you will probably need to include enough background to make the pattern a square – easily done and should give a nice look to the finished project. I would also choose my favorite of the bordered included here (or in other books dedicated to borders) and add one to the outer edge. Also, as with cross stitch, you can go back and add embellishments once the project is complete. The book is written in US crochet terms but there are both a conversion from inches to metric and from US terms to UK terms in the book. There are great illustrations and instructions for both the system used and also for standard crochet stitches. The instructions are in written versus visual format.I love the patterns that are included in this book. I am already working my way through the woodland creatures for a fun play throw/rug for my grandbabies. I hope that the author, Sarah Zimmerman, publishes more of these adorable creatures in the future.I'm thrilled to combine two of my favorite needle crafts into one. I can see myself working through this book and beyond in short order this fall and winter. I also really appreciate that the author has included her materials list and that it is a frugal worsted weight yarn (Red Heart Super Saver.) Of course, you can use any yarn of your choice but the weight will make a difference as to the finished size of the project. Just stay consistent in brand and weight in each project to make sure that the project goes together properly.

Sarah Zimmerman Crochet Books
I bought this Pattern Book so I could learn how to do the C2C crochet blankets. I love this author and designer as I have 2 of her Amigurumi books and all her patterns are so easy to follow. Next year I’m going to start to learn this C2C. As of now I’m trying to finish other crochet projects by Christmas using her 2 Amigurumi books!

Glad to see Sarah is published finally
Ordered, it was out of stock. Waited 2 months for it to come in. Bit disappointed. I follow Sarah's blog, Repeatcrafter me. She's shared some free c2c patterns that are cuter I think. (Christmas and emoji) But like the woodland critters in the book so will try that. I've made quite a few of Sarah's designs-hats, kids items, etc. Big hits as gifts and well written patterns. So I Was happy to see her published finally. Will look for more from her.

Excellent corner to corner crochet book with instructions for beginners to experts!
This is a beautifully illustrated book of crochet patterns for corner to corner afghans. There are plenty of in color instructions and actual patterns perfect for anyone , especially children and babies. I consider myself a fairly experienced crocheter of many year, yet there were things that I learned that I didn't know. The patterns are of animals. I would recommend this especially for those who want to learn this technique or improve their skills.

Easy to follow instructions with pictures
I learned C2C crochet with videos. I didn't use the patterns yet however I did crochet a blanket for a full size bed using the C2C method. It is beautiful, reversible and gives my blanket some texture. Now, my daughter wants almost everything in the book.Great instructions, easy to follow.Only 3 simple stitches: chaine, slip stitch and double crochet. Even a novice in crochet can do it.

Wish there was more for the price
Nothing against the content but I'm a bit disappointed that there is not more of it. One thing I was hoping it had in the instructions part would when doing color changes when to tie off and when to use a bobbin. That's something I struggle with. The pictures are beautiful and lots of them. I agree with some other reviews that it's more like a magazine than a book (only 20 pages long). Disappointed there were not more patterns. I do not believe the price reflects the true value of the product and would have been much happier paying less for the minimal content in the actual "book." Sarah is so talented and has so many great designs on her website so I was a little surprised and disappointed there wasn't more within the book. I'm glad to support her though.
