Strong and a snug fit.
Masks are somewhat of a thing of late, but for the tradesman and sensible DIY-er wearing masks to stop wood dust and building dust; plaster, cement and stone - have always been a sensible choice. The appropriate applications are shown on the side of box - along with the industry standards to which the masks comply.I've worn a lot of masks over the years, boy and man, and as farmer's son against dust associated with cereal harvesting and processing as well as working with power tools such as grinders, stone saws, and sanders to date. The fit of a mask is key because air enters and escapes where the mask sits against the face, these masks fit tightly via a rubber loop, that is threaded so their are two points of attachment, one around the base of the neck, first on, and the second then loops higher above the ears. While this is standard way of doing things this product has stronger elastic, I noticed this at once. The mask grips harder than other cheaper masks I have worn, I didn't find this snug fit uncomfortable, your mileage may vary. The elastic is pinned as best I could tell, because when donning this product the elastic did not pull trough ( as a belt might through loops, or laces through eyelets ) and this meant I didn't lose a few seconds of my life adjusting the elastic to the right proportions in order to get a good fit. This may seem a small thing, but it's amazing how the small things matter when you want to press on.There is also a soft metal strip at the nose, when pinched this forms to the bridge of one's hooter and makes for a snug fit a the nozzle. The body of mask feels substantial. In terms of the key work of filtering dust, and doing so in such a way one can breathe - and breathe heavily if doing heavier work - they seem subjectively better to me than the cheaper kind that don't have the plastic filter insert.Any mask is going to reduce air flow - if you need to breathe hard due to heavy exertion, however the benefits of not breathing in fine dust far outweigh this.Your lungs will thank you.

Excellent - well worth the money
I suffer with asthma so when I had to sand down an entire kitchens worth of cabinets, work surfaces and an island top I thought I would give these masks a try. I managed to get through them without so much as a wheeze proving what a good seal they have. I found them to be very comfortable to wear for long periods of time and would recommend to anyone in need of a face mask for dust. These are not suitable for asbestos or spray painting.

Great masks for casual work
I do not have a great deal to say about these 3M masks other than that they are well designed, well made and will help protect you if used correctly and for the tasks they are designed for. These masks will NOT protect you if spraying paint, working with asbestos or toxic chemicals/vapours.They WILL protect you if fitted correctly and used to sand surfaces flat by hand, belt sander or angle grinder and while drilling. It is the user's responsibilty to ensure they use the correct PPE for the tasks they are undertaking. These masks are made of a semi-rigid material, with a foam rubber nose cushion for comfort. There is a strong metal bridge piece on the outside of the mask which can be shaped to contour the mask over the nose for a good fit. A small valve lets exhaled breath out of the mask, while two thin straps are employed to hold the mask in place.I want these for my DIY projects, and I know they will be up to the task. 3M is quality gear.

Very good product quality.
My husband and I are remodelling a few rooms in our house, this mask has been amazing so far. This mask protects from dirt and dust. Very easy to put on and take off, it is not very comfortable as it marks my skin and sometimes it hurts my ears but it is ok to use for a few hours per day. Very good product quality.

Works very well, little bit tight.
• These masks definitely work well for woodworking/protecting your lungs from sawdust, which is what I got them for.• I don't get any irritation in my nose/lungs and the mask covers a lot of my face, too which keeps a fair bit of skin protected.• The valve works to prevent the mask from getting stuffy and damp inside and it does that well and speech isn't too muffled.• The nose strip is firm, not easy to shape but stays put well and the foam on the inside keeps it comfortable and stops sawdust coming in at the top if there are any gaps leftThe only criticism is that the mask is attached with these rubber bands which are quite tight and don't feel very strong to me. I imagine that after a few uses, they will likely snap when taking it on/off. However, the mask will probably be worn out by then.
