Good purchase
I needed a drill bit to drill through a 4x4 pence post. This looked a bit ‘flimsy’ but was impressed at how well it worked with a corded drill. Great purchase and would recommend

Great!
Long drills are incredibly useful. Of course, with a long thin drill like this you have to be a bit careful because they will either bend or snap pretty easily, but this one seems fairly tolerant to some mild abuse, so good for the money.I bought mine years ago now and I am still using it. As long as you take care of it, no reason why it shouldn't last a lifetime.I would have no hesitation in buying another.

Rubbish. Bent and then snapped on first use in softwood
Terrible quality. Very soft and flexible. Bent and then snapped off in the work piece. Do not waste your money.

Better than my auger bits
I have compared it vs 3 (screw tip) auger bits (Bosch, HPMans and Wisfor). Surprisingly it drilled easier and cleaner 10 cm holes than the rest. It is a bit off centre, but it looks like it doesn't matter when used with a hand drill where your hand will follow and compensate for it. I'm taking 1 star away because it isn't perfectly straight.

Met requirements
Needed for sleepers. Took care when drilling and worked well

Price appropriate for the quality
Price appropriate for the quality. Drilling a pilot hole through two lengths of 150mm timber - standard timber used in housebuilding - and repeated drill bits snapped.

Does the job!

Drills 32 pilot holes in green Oak with no problem.
I'm making a garden table out of sleepers. I was using 150mm x 6.7mm hex head stainless steel timber screws so needed to drill pilot holes first. Given some of the previous reviews (and my propensity to snap drill bits) I actually bought two of these bits. It turned out to be unnecessary. I drilled 32 x 150mm pilot holes in green oak no problem at all. I was using a rechargeble 18v drill on max torque and speed settings. I let the drill do the work (i.e. didn't press too hard) and fully cleared the bit (i.e. pulled it fully out) every cm or so. I've got the benchs left to make which is another 24 holes and don't see any reason why the bit I've already used won't do those as well. I'll update the post if not.
