Will acetone melt the varnish (or whatever it's called) that's on top of the wood?

Yes--I know that acetone removes the toughest of nail polishes, so am sure it would remove varnish.

Are these bristles interwoven?

I ordered them, but received a totally different set of brushes, which I returned.

Can you use mineral spirits with these?

Yes, no problem at all. These are good brushes.
