I would say about 1/2 inch and not sharp.

Does color run on white fur?

I haven't noticed the color run at all... but my dog is pink... lol Just kidding my female puppy is red fawn and wears the pink collar and my male is blue and wears the purple one but the collar is made out of plastic.. I did notice a bit of the color being worn off or getting a bit faded where my puppies dog tags rub against it... but I've bought 3 of these collars now and love them!! I have Cane Corso puppies and they grow phenomenally fast!! Will buy more when my puppies grow out of them. Also have 2 purple ones and they are perfect and haven't noticed them fading even when subject to water! Love! Love! Love! these collars!!

Do these collars keep Birds of Prey from getting your dog ?

Doubt it. If dog is small/light enough, bird can grab it anywhere on the body. This collar would only protect the neck
