I am very pleased with this purchase. Exact replica of my previous DVD player. I would like to know if you would like my old one to refurbish? There is a damaged dvd inside and can’t get door open. Pls let me know if interested. No cost! Just want to recycle. Thanks!!

Does a great job!
Bought as a gift for my father, I had visited my parents over the summer and my dad has a kick ass 75 inch led, I rented a couple of dvd's and could not get over the terrible picture, I examined his current dvd player and it was rated at 480p, so gave him the blue ray and he absolutely loves it. With the ability to purchase a warranty through square trade, you just can't go wrong. On a side note, my parents have no wifi or dsl available in their area so they are unable to use any of the features normally one would use with this unit.

Best buy at the low price.
For a basic Blu-Ray / DVD Player with Streaming, it works well. I paid $42 for it and couldn't find another model (new or refurbished) anywhere near that price. Overall I'm very happy. My only wish is that the processor was faster. Loading discs, streaming content and booting up take over 5 seconds each. This is not unbearable, but I'm spoiled by my SSD quad-core laptop that loads nearly instantanously. For $42, I don't expect a fast processor and I am very happy with this model.Be sure to upgrade the driver (done through wifi) when you first get the unit. It will load about 50 streaming channels onto the Sony player. This is overkill for me, but I'm sure that everyone will get what they want with this massive selection. So far I'm 45 days into my purchase. I've had no failure at any time. My unit runs the same as any $100+ new unit would. Sony has been my go-to brand for entertainment electronics for over 5 years. I've come to trust their machines.

It powered up fine, I was able to connect to the internet ...
Had to return this DVD player. Plugged it in and it would not play any DVD's. It powered up fine, I was able to connect to the internet and could stream anything, YouTube, Music, and even pictures from our server, but the main reason we got a DVD player was to play DVD's. We homeschool and use A Beka DVD program which requires....you guessed it...watching DVD's.Sadly, nothing I did helped to get this thing working so back into the box it went and back online I went to reorder the exact same player from Amazon because despite the bad player all of the research said that this was the best to get. I was shocked when the price of the "refurbished" player that I had just bought jumped an astonishing $40! What??? I guess I will let my son continue to "borrow" the DVD player out of the family room until I find a more suitable replacement before I bend over and pay an additional $40 for this "refurbished" player.

After update it works perfect
This is my first experience buying anything refurbished and so far so good! It did take me an hour to figure out how to set up Netflix and other streaming services and to get mirrorlink to work because even though it was picking up my Wi-Fi signal, the player wouldn't connect to anything. Finally I found a setting to update the player software (or something like that) on the home screen menu, it restarted after it was complete, and everything worked perfect. So for those having the same issue, look for that update and the conectivity issue should be resolved.

We have been pleased so far.
We've only used this one time since we got it, but it was easy to work with and we were very pleased with the quality of the picture. So far we are delighted. We had our tech savvy son set this up, but it appeared to be no trouble for him at all. And I probably could have done it with a little patience, but it was easier to have him do and we knew it would be done right.

Needs a software update
The Blu-ray player works great. Great color, fine details shine through on the screen. The online features, such as Netflix, VUDU, etc., lag and cause interruptions in your viewing. I think it is a memory dump issue, as I have tried to use both wifi and direct LAN connection to our modem. There was very little difference in video quality on either (direct connection was faster, but not by much). However, when I unplug the power cord and then plug it back in a few moments later, this helps. It is annoying to have to constantly do this to fix my online features. I have to do it every few days. We'll be looking for a new Blu-ray player very soon.
