Simple to use, well-designed for comfort, one size fits "most"
I rarely write reviews. However, if you are facing shoulder immobilization for any significant time, this product deserves consideration. I knew what type of sling most hospitals provide post-op. Researching slings pre-op certainly paid off. I gave the hospital-issued DonJoy product three days. My neck was red and sore and the sling was uncomfortable. I cast it off and never used it again after putting on the Breg. Now at 4 weeks post op, I can say the benefits of this abductor pillow sling after rotator cuff repair and shoulder reconstruction far outweigh the DonJoy abductor sling in my experience. The Breg Atlas is easier to adjust to fit, is easier to put on and take off once adjusted, has fewer velcro pieces to irritate tender skin or snag clothing, and does not stress or chaff the neck like other brands. The shape of the abduction pillow fit my body and provides more stability. The sling is better ventilated and much more comfortable for sleeping than the DonJoy. Bottom line, the Breg is a much better design. It makes more sense to say this sling is "one size fits most". It might not fit as well for a petite build or a small waist and chest. I am short but not particularly slender. There was a long tail of leftover strap after fitting the waist, and the shoulder straps were cinched within an inch or two of the max to work for me. The arm sleeve was too long, but rolling back the cuff front edge twice worked. Once adjusted, the sling fit adequately and was supportive and comfortable. To be fair, DonJoy has a similar product called DonJoy UltraSling IV Shoulder Support Sling, Medium which is more expensive than the standard issue DonJoy abductor sling most hospitals use. It comes in four sizes. I went with Breg because it was less expensive than the DonJoy Ultrasling IV and the Breg straps looked less restrictive and more comfortable under the axilla of the well shoulder. I have no regrets. If Breg could make a smaller version of this sling to better fit those with a slight build, it would be a win-win for many.

A couple more inches on each side of the sling would have made this perfect. Not having the strap wrapped around my neck ...
I big improvement over the sling I was given after surgery, however, the sling could be a bit larger. My elbow does not always want to stay in place. A couple more inches on each side of the sling would have made this perfect. Not having the strap wrapped around my neck was also a huge advantage. I would definitely recommend this after shoulder surgery.

Not a one size fits all. This thing was REALLY HUGE. May work for a 200+ LB person, but not little me at 5' 2" and 115 Lbs.

Distributes the weight, easier on your neck.
Very good product. None of these braces are ideal, but this is the best one I have used. I've had 5 different ones, if that helps you judge my review. I've worn this daily for over 2 months and it is holding up very well, looks new still. I wash it in the sink with laundry detergent and air dry it in the sun. The padding is nice and the sling is as comfortable as one of these can be I suppose. I don't use the pillow part. The big thing about this sling is that it is supported under your arm as well as above. It helps keep it off your neck which on other braces gets sore very fast. Plus it helps distribute the weight. This thing made life much better. I highly recommend it.

A scratchy mess, my arm is SO chafed!
UPDATE 9/13/19:I've worn this for a month so far, and my arm has gotten SO chaffed from the rough fabric inside and all the seams. What a terrible design. The inside SHOULD be a smooth, soft, sweat-wicking fabric that pampers your sore arm. But NOOOO, not this sling! My skin is literally peeling and flaking off inside of it from all the chafing! I would never recommend this sling.ORIGINAL REVIEW:Velcro sticking to everything and scratches you, sticks to your clothes! Inside has rough seams that rub and scratch your arm! Neck strap is rough on your skin unless you wear a turtleneck!

Much more comfortable.
While recovering from rotator cuff surgery I was initially wearing the cheap slip the hospital gives you. It was the type that hangs from you neck. They suck. This sling fits over your shoulder and is way more comfortable. I highly recommend it. Recovering from surgery is bad enough without hanging you arm from your neck.
