Will this fit a s&w m&p 2.0 40 compact?

Its almost universal. The F2 part of the mount slides in through the dove tail. But it has a lot play. It doesn't fit tight at all. Then add you F1 part of the mount on top and then set your red dot on the F1 mount. Then with the 2 screws supplied. Insert them in through your red dot and screw them into your F2 part of the mount. Securing your red dot to your pistol.

Do you remove the front sight also or leave it on?

Just leave it. Mount it yourself it’s fairly easy to do.

Do you have to mill the slide for a Shield 9mm? Or does this go in where the rear sight is?
