Update 5-11-21: The first one lasted about a year (of near daily starting). It never had a whole lot of "umph" but did the job. But then wore out. Installed the second one. It was good for about 10 starts, then the gear cover broke, dropping a piece into the engine flywheel compartment. Do not recommend.This starter was a bolt in replacement on my Yanmar 2gm20f. It's only been on a couple months, but so far its working properly. At approximately 1/8 the price of a Yanmar/Hitachi OEM, I bought 2 so I have a spare.

Fit perfectly... screw for the solenoid was a little larger than the one I was replacing but easy fix just use a small nut and bolt to attach the solenoid ignition hot wire (the small wire) bigger screw with this starter would not quite fit through the eye on that wire ... Works great and I had to crank my old yanmar which had been sitting two years quite a bit to get it going. Great buy.

I replaced a starter on my Yanmar 2gm20f diesel motor. This was an exact fit. Started my motor right up. I have not used it long term so I can't write about that. Seems like good quality.

Old starter was showing signs of power loss. Starter would not turn over on occasion and when it did the diesel turn over was sluggish. New starter confirmed my suspicions that replacement was due. New starter response is very good and diesel turn over RPM is remarkably improved. Longevity is yet to be determined. I down rated because there was no instructions provided for return of old started for Core Exchange, so I am left holding on to it until I can determine best way to recycle.

This lasted for about 2.5 years. It was mounted and wired properly to OEM spec. The aluminum cone broke off and almost immediately got shredded by the main gear. Shrapnel everywhere and total mess of aluminum filings. This should not happen under light operating conditions. Quality issue with manufacturing.Original Review:Bought this for a project boat with a non-running engine that had sat for several years. Works great. Cranks without any trouble.
