Works, oem has very nice bass
Fit my 2004 Avalon XLS perfectly! My specific case my speaker was so rotted out and falling apart that it was impossible to peel or remove the old material from the speaker face. Worked amazingly still works, would recommend. Very very nice bass.

Instructions could be more specific to my vehicle, but overall an easy, inexpensive way to extend the life of your subwoofer
When a certain bass-heavy track on my playlist would play, a rattle started occurring in the area of the driver's side rear 8-inch subwoofer of my '07 Toyota Sienna with JBL Synthesis system. I decided to buy this repair kit and give it a go.Accessing the several 10mm bolts holding the subwoofer enclosure was a bit arduous; I opted to only partially remove the paneling and so had to prop them open and snake a socket wrench with a flexible extension to get the couple of bolts not readily accessible. I have smallish hands though so it wasn't nearly as bad as it could've been.Upon removing the box I used a Torx 25 bit to remove the six screws holding the sub in place in the box, then carefully pried the speaker out and disconnected the wire clips (carefully marking the black/grey wire's terminal with a sharpie so I could reattach them correctly). One aspect that neither the Simply Speakers instructions nor video really made clear to me was a rigid plastic ring which is glued to the metal frame of the subwoofer. To access the old foam edge material I needed to carefully pry a few inches at a time around the circumference to part it from the adhesive (being careful not to crack it in the process), then carefully pull the ring away to expose the edge completely. After that it was a matter of using a razor to scrape away the old foam ring (which for 10+ years old wasn't in terrible shape, but did pull apart easily), and the adhesive lingering on the speaker cone's edge and metal frame, then cleaning the surfaces thoroughly with some 90% isopropyl alcohol. A user MrInternet69 on YouTube provided some great guidance on this part of the process.Back to the instructions that came with the kit, I applied the adhesive to the speaker cone edge and gently pressed the new foam into place and carefully worked the cone up and down to ensure there was smooth movement up and down the voice coil. I waited a little over 1 hour for the glue to dry, then applied adhesive to the area of the metal speaker frame underneath the foam and pressed the foam carefully against the metal (again ensuring unobstructed travel of the voice coil), then applied glue to the upper rim of the foam and laid the rigid plastic ring into place on top of it. I then sat the speaker upside-down on a flat surface and allowed it to cure overnight.Reassembling the speaker and paneling was about as easy as tearing it apart. There was some foam on the outer edge of the speaker's rigid plastic rim most of which had fallen away, which I decided not to replace; it didn't seem like a big deal, but if upon reassembling rattle emerges it might be a good idea to shape some foam for this rim to cushion it against the subwoofer grille attached to the paneling. In my case this appeared to be unnecessary; the track I'd experienced rattle with now produced nice, smooth bass.Compared to replacing the subwoofer with an identical one (possible relatively cleanly if you obtain one with matching impedance, I believe the JBL is 2-ohm) or with an aftermarket one (which could be a pain especially if you end up replacing the JBL Synthesis amp, which drives ALL speakers including the sub), this is a clean, inexpensive fix. As with any interior work you might also purchase some extra clips in case the old ones fall apart as you pry the paneling apart.Overall a nice, inexpensive fix.

Easy to repair! Just like new! 2002 Avalon
Great product. Subwoofer on my 2002 Avalon was making farting noises, so I knew the foam surround needed to be replaced. Product was easy to work with and repair went smoothly. Sounds good as new and saved me hundreds. Best tips I can give are watch the yt videos on how to remove the speaker from the rear deck and how to replace the surround once you have it out. Basically, take your time and you can finagle the speaker assembly out without having to cut the rear deck. When performing the repair, go slow and you'll be fine. I used a pocket knife to remove the old surround and goo-gone to help remove the old adhesive. I did not use the included glue brush; instead using my fingers like in the video. Buy this! You can do it!

Awesome install video
Thought my speaker was blown, but discovered that the foam portion of the cone had deteriorated. I went online and discovered that the foam could be replaced. Went on Amazon and saw these. The installation video is great and the install went very well. Problem solved. Great product

Good as new
There is a YouTube video of a gentleman showing how to remove the rear interior trim pieces on 2005-2012 avalon where you DO NOT need to remove the rear seatbacks. I recommend you use this video. Only thing I would add to that video is I suggest flipping the rear deck forward 180 degrees so the visible (smooth) side rests on your rear leather seats, not the side with the clips (could puncture your leather). The only tool you need for the job is a 10mm socket wrench to remove the four bolts holding the subwoofer in. I recommend you take the time to replace the third brake light assembly as well to save you any future hassle ($90 on Amazon). Instructions for subwoofer repair are include in package and straightforward; there is a YouTube video as well. In the meantime, if the rattling noise is driving you crazy. Turn the “BASS” selection to “-5” until your kit arrives.

Great Product; Fixed issue; Know what you’re getting yourself into
Pros: when I finally took care of everything it worked like a charm. Once you get the speaker out of the car this is simple although it will take at least three hours to complete just the foam replacement since per the instruction video you should let stuff dry after each step. Removal and reinstall of the speaker is potentially another hour and a half/two hours.Cons: Speaker removal is NOT as easy as most documentation out there. 2005 Avalon I needed to not only unbolt the rear seats and tie them down with rope to the front of the car so I could work back there. I also needed to remove the panels on either side of the rear panel that houses the speaker because you cannot remove the rear panel without doing so; those side panels help to lock the rear panel down. Once those side panels were off it was just a matter of removing the four speaker bolts. Then when it’s time to bolt the back seats when you’re putting everything back together you need to align the back seat adjustment bar into the back seat (The Avalon rear seats I have recline). It’s a pain but can be done.
