Jonathan Alden Solid Cherry Floating Shelf, for Spices, Photos, Entryways & More (Bloom)

I bought this little free floating shelf as an accent piece for the Van Gogh print I also purchased on Amazon. I was looking for something to brighten up the second floor landing in my house. I'm not a interior decorator. I justknow what Ilike. So if it doesn't work for you that's ok. I just wanted to show what it might look like in areal home setting. The shelf came as described and on time. The direction were very simple. You will receive two screws to put the shelf piece and decorative wall section together. I would make sure to held the warding about this process as if you don't I can see how the pieces could break. So follow the directions carefully. There is a paper template that comes with the item. Tape it to your installation place and make sure you use a level. A small one is included in the packaging but I used my own big guns level. So if you think the shelf is not level in the pictures, it's not the shelf it's the rest of the house. The shelf is well made and came unfinished with just a slight sheen to it. For me this worked as I just used some furniture polish on it and enjoy the natural wood look with the Van Gogh print I purchased on Amazon.

I love these shelves! The color, the craftsmanship and easy to put together. The best thing was the cheat sheet stencil to attach them to the wall made it so easy to hang them! Great thinking! The only recommendation I would have is that there was a choice of finishes. I prefer a gloss finish over a matte finish. However, great buy and product!

I was looking for a small shelf by front door to hold a cell phone and or keys. Once I got the shelf up I noticed that there are two gold screws on the top that do not show from their pictures. These take away from the overall look of the shelf, but nothing you can do about it. Sturdy enough to hold the small items I needed it to. Be aware that the curve of the shelf takes away from what it can hold. A rectangle shelf of the same length would hold a little more. But this shelf is uniques and looks nice.

These are close to being really nice but there are three things that concern me about them and because they are pretty expensive, I am giving them 3 stars. I bought one of each design although this comment would still apply even if I had bought four of the same. The workmanship and materials are pretty good quality overall, but...1. One of the four shelves has a ding in it - a bit of wood seems to have chipped out (see last photo). Although ideally there would be no ding and it's not large, I would have been happier if it had at least been smoothed out by sanding.2. The mounting slots in the back are cut so close to the upper edge of the support piece that they are starting to blow out and even did blow out a bit on one shelf. That spot will abut the shelf material, so I doubt the shelf will actually break, even with something on it, but the integrity was compromised and there's much less of a safety factor than there should be against breakage. There is room for the hole to be located farther from the edge and it doesn't need to be as long or the round part as large diameter as it is for the screw provided. More wood was removed than necessary.3. The edges of one of the four shelves were not sanded to the same extent as they were on the other three, which are much more rounded. I'm not sure if the person who made this shelf skipped that step or just didn't do it to the same extent as the other three. I would have preferred them to have been consistent shelf to shelf, but most people probably won't notice the difference once the shelves are hung.Final note (not a complaint - just an observation): There is variation in the wood coloring. Of course, that's natural, but I'm providing the comparison in a photo of all 8 shelf pieces so you know what to expect. The pilot holes drilled for attaching the two pieces with screws are aligned differently for each shelf so if you buy more than one design you won't be able to exchange them to make the colors match better although you probably could with more than one shelf of the same design. That photo also shows the back of one support piece so you can see how the shelf mounts on the wall.

These shelves look delicate and beautiful, but are also sturdy. The perfect answer to my need for bathroom shelves in a half bath. Easy to hang (hardware and template included) -- I was off and running in a few minutes. Did I mention beautiful?!

The shelf came unfinished so you will need to poly or stain. I ended up staining then using a dry brush with some paint over the stain for a finished product. It was very easy to assemble and it came with an easy to hang sheet so you didn’t even have to measure. Great product!

This is one of the best purchases I have ever made. I absolutely love this shelf! It matches the design of my bedroom. I painted it to give a bit more character, put it in front of a fake window using  Wall Pops WPP96858 Casbah Room Wall Panels  , sheer curtains on the side and  5" Brass Aladdin Genie Lamps: Incense Burners  for finishing touch. Very happy with this shelf, and will probably purchase another.
