Impressed with effects on Appetite and Cravings
I was previously on other medications for insulin resistance, but due to insurance issues, I had to find an alternative, which led me to Berberine. This brand claimed to be one of the most highly concentrated Berberine products on the market, boasting an astonishing purity level of 97%.Even though this brand doesn't claim to help you lose weight or reduce appetite, I decided to give this brand a chance based on what I've read about Berberine, the product description, and the reviews.At first, I was skeptical because I've tried other supplements that claim to reduce appetite with little success. I started taking Berberine in mid-August, and honestly, I'm not the best at consistently taking supplements as I tend to forget. This one requires taking one capsule three times a day, but I initially started with just one. I wasn't the most disciplined with taking them, but I did notice some changes in my cravings. This week, I began taking two capsules per day, and it has significantly reduced my appetite and sugar cravings.I feel more in control of my dietary choices, and that's a significant win for someone dealing with insulin resistance.While I haven't seen any weight loss, the fact that I've been able to maintain my weight without any exercise is a significant win for me, as I tend to gain weight easily.I don't know if it's the black packaging (which I really appreciate for its discrete and elegant design), and I can't compare it to other brands, but these capsules are bright yellow. Regardless of the reason, I do notice that they are a bit bitter once I put them in my mouth. However, a quick sip of water eliminates the bitterness completely, and there's no aftertaste. This is easy on my sensitive stomach, and I haven't experienced any discomfort or digestive issues, which is a huge relief.In summary, Berberine has exceeded my expectations, helping me regain control over my cravings and maintain my weight. I'm only on the third day, but had been using another cheaper berberine supp for two months and did not really notice any reduction in blood glucose. I've had a CGM for 45 days so able to track and test with more data now. I got this berberine supplement after reading about poor results with some manufactures products. Looked and saw that the cheaper supplement I had been using had very few reviews.Took Sat, Sun and now Mon. Yesterday was a super good day. I have a prediabetic history with A1C at 5.5 two months ago. The CGM initially showed big spikes (for me) up to 170-180 after a bowl of oatmeal for example. I'm on a pescatarian whole food diet and that has help drop those spikes down to 140-150. And I have seen even more improvement on some days in the last two weeks, but yesterday stood out after about three doses of this berberine.Fairly large lunch and then dinner with whole grain bread, beans, chickpeas. About 700-800 calorie meals and my blood glucose peaked at about 125 and quickly came back to 100.I just took another one before my three toast + eggs + avocado + protein shake + berries & yogurt mid-morning breakfast. 75 min later my peak at 108 and now down to 98. I generally get a second peak, but always smaller than the first. I have not seen these low numbers before at all. Not even close. This same breakfast has pushed me up to 145 before. The best peak was 128 or so. If the peak was truly 108... Wow. game change.Update 1: After a few more days of testing, I'm seeing incredible results from the CGM. Over night sleeping levels are lower and consistent. Pre-breakfast values in the low 90s whereas before they would jump just above 100. Almost no jump in glucose after breakfast. I did get a response after eating more carbs last night for dinner. Jumped to 130 and back down within 10 min to the 80s.
