I liked it and it worked but had too many features
I bought a chinese made, highly rated, hi intensity light. I liked it and it worked but had too many features. Always ended up in strobe, sos or some other mode when all I wanted it to do was turn on. I was thinking that it sure would be nice if one of these lights was made in USA. I realized that the slightly outdated Mini Mag Lite on my belt right then (as it has been for the last 15 years) was American all the way. I went to their website and there the Mini Pro was exactly what I wanted from a company I had trusted for years. So I returned my Chinese one, and ordered a Mini Mag Pro. Loved it!!!! Only complaint was that when doing a close look at something, it was too bright. I then bought a Pro + with the low intensity beam setting and all was great. And the low intensity setting is easy to turn on. If there was any complaint it was that on the beam focus both models did not do much like the old Xenon bulb models. But you don't need it there is so much light. It is all I carry now. My regular pro is my spare now but if it was the only model available I would still use it. And it is less expensive.Yea USA!!!Two things one should know. If you have a good quality leather case for your old MIni Mag AA the Pro's are about 5/8 "longer and won't work. I have always liked a leather snap scabbard personally but have to say that the case that comes with the package works just fine.

IF OVER 75, ALWAYS CARRY A MINI-MAGLITE WITH YOU WHEN LEAVING YOUR HOME
This is, without exception, the brightest and best constructed mini-Maglite I have ever held. Unfortunately, (since I'm 80 and a number o infirmitys, my doctor insists that I carry a mini-Maglite with me at all times, but it must be a model that flashes an SOS code if I fall in the snow and cannot get up. (his has previously hsppened to me, and trust me in sharing with readers that It is a very frightening experience. This model mini-Maglite doesn't have the SOS capability, so I had to return this model and order one with the SOS feature. Also, mu thanks to Amazon for their understanding and help. .A few suggestions for other GEEZER's Like me: Pay very close attention to all of your physicians instructions. Following my Docs orders, I take my Warfarin and Blood Pressure meds as ordered, have my INR Tests per schedule, and ALWAYS carry 3 things with me whenever I leave my home.First, my mini-Maglite with the SOS capability in my left pocket, my cully charged cell phone with confirmed 911 capability in my right pocket, and a metal cane in my right hand. (My children, who are in their 50s, term my phone "The I've Fallen and Can't get Up Device). For whatever it's worth, I've survived a Stroke that left me with Ataxia, and one heart attack. Still, weather permitting, I walk every day with a goal of2-1/3 miles, enforced by my Garmin health bracelet that alarms when my pulse exceeds 250 beats/min. Also, since my brain still thinks, I often have to remind it that I "can't do that anymore". My goal is to maintain my independence for the next 2 years, then join my beloved wife in Heaven.

My "daily driver", EDC flashlight.
I love this little flashlight, it goes with me where I go. It has a high and low output and that is about all you need. Uses common AA cells. During warm weather, I load it with Eneloops. During cold weather, it gets Energizer Lithium cells for better cold temp performance, without the leak risk of alkaline cells. Great versatile little flashlight. Get them while you can! Quality made in the USA!

An improved Maglite
The Mini Maglite Pro+ is certainly much brighter than the "standard" Mini Maglite LED. It is in fact so bright that one wishes for the dimming control of the older version. To dim the Pro+, one must turn it on while holding the flashlight vertical with the head pointed down. With the older version, on once brought it on full brightness, on a second time in fairly rapid succession turned it on at reduced brightness, and on a third time caused it to strobe. I never knew what the strobe function was for (not the same as the SOS function), but it was there. The Maglite would further benefit from a constant current circuit, which would maintain lamp brightness over the life of the battery. Fenix and other (more expensive) flashlights have that, but Maglite doesn't.The Maglite is good for outdoor use, but if you want a mini flashlight primarily for looking inside computers or other equipment, the standard LED mini maglite is cheaper and more appropriate for that purpose.Still, for $30, one gets a very bright flashlight, which is a big step forward from the older products.Maglite touts the "full flap" holster for this flashlight. But that's not what is in the package with the new Pro+. One gets the same black pocket that came with the old model. Amazon sells two models of the full-flap holster, and th AM2A056 does NOT fit the Pro+.
