The media could not be loaded. I’ve been wanting Doc Martens for a while. I had purchased a few pairs but were hard to break in except some boots. I love that these are only 3 hole laces. I wanted the shiny material as they remind me of my favorite shoes. I work in a hospital and between clinics so I do a lot of walking. They do hurt a bit hence the socks showing. But it’s part of the breaking in process. I have giant feet or so I feel like it. With Docs it’s sometimes difficult to get the right fit. I got these in a 10, usually I get size 9. They’re slightly big but still comfortable. It gives it wiggle room for thick socks and I think it helps it not feel too rough on my heels. I think I’m gonna love these even more once broken into.

Last year we went to London for my daughter’s senior trip and she purchased some Dr. Marten Oxfords while there. She got them pretty tight because they stretch and had blisters through out our trip. I loved the look of the shoes, but assured myself they were not for a woman of my age. Then I had a thought, they could actually be an alternative to tennis shoes! I wear a lot of black and love Eileen Fisher clothing, so I purchased the patent leather oxfords and went with the suggested sizing from Amazon. I usually wear a 9.5 but got the 10 (UK size 8) as I remembered my daughter’s painful experience! They were comfortable out of the box - I’ve worn them several days in a row all day long without a blister one. They have loosened up a bit and if they would have come in a half size smaller, it would have been absolutely perfect, but the support inside the shoe fits exactly where it’s supposed to, so I will either wear thicker socks or head to the shoe repair to get some inserts. I really love the quality of the shoes, the style, and the patent leather is the bomb!

I was really excited about these shoes but couldn't find a size right for me. I wear a 9.5 or 10, depending on the shoe. Since they didn't have half sizes I tried a 9 and they were too small. I tried a 10 and they were too big. *sigh* They're really nice quality and comfy when i did try them on so I gave 3 stars.

My four-year-old 1461s finally gave up the ghost (a small tear where the leather meets the sole) and I wanted another pair but was reluctant to give the 'Chinese' Docs another go. What the hell, I ordered, they arrived (fast, FREE shipping to Australia!) and they're wonderful.The bump in quality was evident at first sight. No more cheap leather as is used to make cheap belts; this is good stuff (my father was a shoemaker so I know about these things). Construction is much more sturdy and the overall finish is perfect. Fit is excellent and very little, if any, break-in period will be necessary. I've been wearing them straight out of the box today and they're just so comfortable. I think these should be good for at least five or six years - maybe more!Well done, Doc Martens for getting a grip on your outsourced manufacturers and saving your hard and well-earned reputation.
