WOW!!! A book with no swearing and no sex! This book is a compilation of articles / columns that the author has written for the Chicago Tribune. While you might not have a real interest in ALL of them, there are plenty to pique your curiousity. Quite a few of them I gave a ""I didn't know that"". All together a pretty good collection.

I like this book because it reminded me of the 50's . A time when you waited till marriage to have sex and then you were true to your mate throughout your life. That means there were TRADITIONAL . One male, one female raising children responsibly. Father was the bread winner, Mother was at home preparing well balanced meals and an anchor for the daily needs of the children with a local school which supported the family. A newspaper that reported truthfully without opinions. A church which preached an infallible Bible without compromise.Get the drift?????

Bob Greene was a great columnist. This book features some fantastic pieces with a special mention of "Walking Tall" which hits you right in the heart. Greene goes from being heartfelt to funny in an instant and no one does it better.

Having so thoroughly enjoyed Bob Greene's book Once Upon a Town, I hoped for more in this book with another nostalgic title. But I was sadly disappointed. Chevrolet Summer, Dairy Queen Nights is a collection of essays about a bygone era, not one continuous narrative, and frankly, too many of the essays depressed me. Greene writes beautifully and finds countless unique topics which some readers might enjoy. But don't expect this read to be "memories pressed between the pages of our minds." Some of the wine has turned to vinegar.

I love Bob Greene's style and keen observations of the times. He should run for president.

This is a great sit by the pool read. Grab your ice tea and be immersed in the summer dreams of Chevrolet Summers Dairy Queen Nights.
