So far this unit has worked great for my use. If it's off by a degree or so, who cares? I need to know if it's 60 or 75 degrees outside so I can dress accordingly BEFORE I go out. I've owned another one of these for several years now and it's still going strong. When it's 20 to -10 during the winter you do need to change the outdoor batteries more often. Cold with kill batteries sooner.

I need to rewrite my original review (below) and give this product 5 stars. The original thermometer did indeed completely stop working in just 3 months. However, after writing that review and giving the thermometer just 2 stars, Thermopro contacted me and offered to send me a brand new one, which they did. Sometimes you will receive a faulty item when purchasing anything. But, this company actually reached out and made it right. I respect that and in return wanted to update my review.(Previous Review)I purchased this thermometer for use indoors on January 20, 2025. It died on April 27, 2025.I installed high quality batteries in it originally and installed new ones after the screen went blank. Nothing. It won’t show anything on the screen.I would have given this 5 stars up until now. However, if they have to be replaced every 3 months, then they are absolutely not worth it.

I originally purchased the app basedmodel of this thermometer and could get no signal from sensor despite being less than 20 feet away. I returned it and purchased this but even this model doesn't provide the advertised range. Seems accurate enough but not on par with my AcuRite forecaster. Price was reasonable for performance. Sensor is small enough you can install it just about anywhere. I can't attest to waterproof ability as this is being used inside. Same scenario for durability. I really wish they used AA instead of AAA batteries though as AAA just doesn't seem to last very long.

I wish that they had "half stars" for rating, because this product is worth 4-1/2 stars due to some perceived minor design issues. Rather than give it 4 stars however, I gave it a 5-star review because on the whole I'm satisfied.One of the issues I mentioned is having the base station backlight button on the back of the unit. This is fine if you use the base station on a table or mount it on a refrigerator door with the magnet (which does seem strong enough), but if you use a hook or nail for the wall mount option it's inconvenient to get to. An extra front button, or perhaps having having the backlight come on when you momentarily press or hold down one of the buttons, would have been nice.A second issue is that using a nail for the wall mount option for the sensor unit could be rather dicey should you use it in a wind-prone area. The instructions warn against impacts to the unit, and I can too easily imagine that strong wind gusts could rock the unit off the nail, causing it to drop on the ground onto a hard surface. I resolved this potential issue by looping a metal twist-tie through the top mounting opening and affixing the tie to a double-pointed tack hammered securely into a wall on the north (shaded) side of the house..A final issue is the base unit having buttons that serve double or triple duty to configure and operate it. I realize that products the small format factor and large display (both of I greatly like) required that the designers limit the number of controls, but one extra button would have greatly increased the user-friendliness of the product.

I have had this for almost five years. We use inside and outside of our camper and it is still working fine. It has been outside in all kinds of weather conditions, below freezing, rain, extreme heat, and it has held up perfectly.
