The absolute best option on the market for the money
This just works. Just order it. You can't go wrong for the price. It's obviously very affordable, retains the shells nicely and it's just the right size for 2.75in, 3in and 3.5in shells. You can even use it for mini-shells. You can keep two shells in each slot for a total of ten. The shells slide out nicely but they also retain firmly enough that you're not going to ever worry about it dropping a shell. This is a great option for an HD setup so you have 5 extra shells on hand. 2- 00 buck shells, 2- 1oz slugs and a 3in #4 Turkey shell are my picks for the HD setup.Maybe keep the slugs or whatever your preferred primary shell happens to be in the front two slots with the brass pointed down. You'll find it natural to smoothly grab them there and pop them into your tube mag or chamber. The rest of the shells orient the other way. That way I know by feel instantly the type of shell I'm grabbing. Slug or 00 buck. Also you can easily take the shell out from either direction regardless of brass orientation. The rim on the shell doesn't catch or make it too difficult to push/slide out of the retaining loop. All that matters is that you're comfortable and used to it. Get five of the quality aluminum dummy shells/snap caps so you can safely practice using the holder. Plus it's just nice having them to practice reloading, breaking in a new shotty, ensuring your shotgun is loading and dry cycling shells reliably. These fit factory 870 stocks perfectly. They fit just about everything nicely. It fits various turkish shotguns as well. All of my buddies/family have these for the most part. Great for a deer or duck hunting setup. If you have a sling stud you can just slide it right over it if you don't want to use it or very carefully make a very tiny slit with an exacto knife/razor blade so the stud can poke through. That's what I have done severe times

Good for a while, then sags forever
I've had a couple of these for a few years now, and I'm sad that although they looked great when new, they began to sag until now they are totally useless, just as floppy and loose as can be. Now, that said, understand that I stored my shotguns with shells in the elastic in place, so yes, they were being stretched. That definitely meant a shorter life than if you just occasionally put a shell in.

Fits alright - Remington 870.
It fits the worlds most popular shotgun alright at best, but it is honestly more snug than it looks in the middle. With that said, when you look closely at it, it’s definitely not as clean as other higher end brands. So if that bothers you or if you’re looking for something you’ll legitimately use regularly while shooting, I recommend another option. I just need something to keep 5 extra shells close by for my home defense shotgun, which this does. Not sure if I got a bad/old sleeve, but it seems that once you stretch it to get it over the butt, it never fully compresses back to have a tight grip on the stock. At least on the ends.

Purchased in September 2015 and still going strong
Mine is 9 years old this month and the elastic is still strong, both for the buttstock part and the shell loops themselves. I was looking for another one but one with Velcro for another gun and saw this listed and the purchase date so I thought I add a review.

who says shopping is a woman's thing?
I ordered this product on a Friday afternoon, and it arrived Monday morning at around 10am. Normal shipping, normal rates. I couldn't believe it. Way to go Amazon! I actually did not get my hands on it until Tuesday, because whoever packed it managed to fit it and another larger product into a box small enough to actually fit in my mailbox. I didn't think to look there during my search! I expected something larger dropped at my door. I was very pleased with the speed and efficiency of the packaging and shipping process. The product itself is exactly what it looks like in the pictures, no more, no less. Construction seems rugged. I don't think it will fall apart on me. I have not had a chance to field test it for whether it stays in place during shooting, how easy it is to retrieve and load shells, etc. Here is my guess: it may slip during shooting. Nothing holds it in place except pressure, and shooting is, by nature, a violent affair.A simple strip of black duck tape (duct tape, whatever)would probably hold it in pace admirably. Duct tape fixes everything. Or, if you are the appearance-oriented type, perhaps a piece of that no-slip stuff for shelving? Stick a little of that under there to help it not slip. Velcro is a third option. At minimum, this product is useful for having a few extra shells with you when you go sneaking around your house at night looking for the source of that noise. Really, it's hard to go wrong with this one for the money. It can act as a backup for your fancier shell holders should things go amiss. Next time you're ordering something anyway, tack it on.
