How does this compare to the larger leather belt?
While much thinner than my previous belt I must ask myself is it protecting my back as much as it should? Well the answer is both yes and no. It does protect the very base of my spine and for me this is what matters most and is where I have injured my back in the past via either deadlifts or squats. Now as you will know if you are looking at this product, it only takes a little loose of balance while lifting that can throw your back out for weeks if not months. So, I always recommend using them even if your technique is tight. What differs from the bigger lower belt is flexibility. The larger ones tend to keep me in place and strict me from moving out of place. I don’t like wearing them once my deadlift or squat is complete whereas this one is comfortable that I don’t feel to restricted while moving around. For me it’s just what I need because it protects the most important and my most injured area. However while the other belts are more restrictive, I feel they do not allow you the small possibility of jerking out of position.I am more then happy to come back and increase my score if this continues to prove me wrong. I am however more then happy with this smaller non leather belt.

Strong, Supportive And Comfortable - Excellent!
Nylon webbing is an incredibly strong material, and used by the military as lifting strops and for strapping down heavy loads in the back of aircraft. It can bear tons of load whilst remaining flexible. So it's a jolly good alternative to the traditional leather, where weight lifting belts are concerned.Adidas do make a leather belt, but it's heavier and far less flexible. The benefits of this one, with its 8mm foam core, is primarily comfort. The belt can be worn for an entire workout session without chaffing and digging into your hip bone or ribs while you move, and that means there's no temptation to take it off and expose yourself to the risk of injury. I like it a lot, and I'm happy to recommend it as a good purchase.Belts like this help stabilise your lumbar spine - the bit at the bottom - and prevent disc injury through misalignment. Loading your back when the discs are not vertically aligned can place a huge lateral train on them, sometimes popping a disc out of sideways. It's excruciating and utterly debilitating, needing painful surgery and risking nerve damage and lifetime disability. A weight lifting belt also holds your stomach in and guards against the risk of hernia, when an internal organ bursts through the layer of muscle under your skin, due to the intense pressure of lifting. It's a pretty unpleasant condition, and can be dangerous. These are the reasons to always make sure your back is properly supported by a belt like this when you lift heavy weights. Not just at a gym, but at work too, or lifting heavy boxes at home.

It seems more a medium size
My husband has never used a belt before so he has nothing to compare with.He mentione the belt is comfortable, even if it is a large size he feels it is more a medium size. He is quite slim and he is ok for him so probably it would be too small for someone bigger than him.It supports his back and also it allows all sorts of movements. He would have something different than a strap because even if now it's quite strong it may ruin over time.

Good quality non-leather weightlifting belt
Nice to have a non-leather alternative, as most weightlifting belts I see are leather. It's well made and simple, does the job.For sizing, use the lower end of the range. For example, I'm have a 40" waist, and "L" is 37 - 43". Better to get the XL, with range 39-44" as that gives the most overlap for a secure fitting.Gives that extra protection to the back when lifting heavy weights - but is no substitute for correct posture.

If you are looking for a weightlifting belt then you won’t go wrong with this one
If you are looking for a weightlifting belt then you won’t go wrong with this one as its comfy and supportive, just what you need. Gives great support, is breathable and has a brilliant Velcro fastening that really does feel secure when fastened, unlike some I have come across. Only negative I can find is that its listed as a large, but I would think its more medium to large that actual large.
