Love these coolers!
Bought this back in 2021. It has been heavily used for the past three summers and is still in perfect shape. No issues with the handles, latches, or hinges. This thing is built to last. Keeps ice just as long as the trendy coolers that cost two to three times as much! As other reviewers have stated, you can add a seal to the rim of the lid to make it even better. It also makes a nice seat!

Awesome cooler! Even better after adding lid seal!
So far I'm loving the BMX52! Just got home from a 4 day trip and still had ice in the cooler. I'd say it was about 25% ice and the rest cold water. The threaded drain plug is awesome and the design made it so it didn't get plugged up with ice while draining. You will want to check that the drain plug is tight before using. I made the mistake of using the cooler before checking the plug and noticed a little water on the ground after the first day of use. I tightened the plug and after that it was good to go. No more leak!I also really like the metal cable that keeps the lid from opening too far. Seems to be high quality and should last for the life of the cooler. The rubber lid latches work great, though they are slightly difficult to stretch over and lock in place. Not the most ideal latch if you are needing to constantly open and close the cooler but they do work great and seem to be heavy duty.I took other reviewer's suggestions and picked up some rubber window seal to make the lid a little more water/air tight. I picked the seal up at my local ACE hardware for a few dollars and it fits perfectly! Almost looks like a factory seal! If anything I think I could have gone with a slightly thicker seal but it appears to be making contact with the bottom rim of the cooler so I think it's good to go, and the width is perfect. The seal I used is a extra small rubber window seal. It is 1/8 inch tall and 3/8 inch wide. I wouldn't go much wider but a slightly thicker seal wouldn't be an issue. Ended up using about 3/4 of a 8.5 foot long strip. Also, I recommend wiping the channel where the seal will be installed with some rubbing alcohol before installing just to make sure the surface is clean and that the seal will adhere properly.Overall I would highly recommend this cooler if you are looking for a heavy duty cooler that wont break the bank. Like other reviewers I wish the cooler came with a lid seal installed from the factory but at least the modification is cheap and only takes a few minutes to install.

Great Option for the price
Overall LOVE this cooler. Finally got to take it out for the weekend. Traveled two hours with it in the car. Then it sat in the hot car in 96 degree weather for a couple hours while I hiked around. Then continued on with me to a cabin in the woods. It was loaded with A LOT of cans and about 10 lbs of ice. By morning, it definitely needed a refresher, but the drinks were still cold and some ice left in there.I did take that next day on the river with me. I love the latched top and the durability of the cooler in general. And as a bonus, it looks pretty cool too. I have no complaints at all.I had looked at a ton of coolers and am glad I chose this one. It’s great for the price and doesn’t weight a ton. I tried a rotomolded cooler prior to returning it and buying this one. The rotomolded cooler was entirely too heavy empty. This cooler has thicker walls than the basic cheaper coolers. All the components were steady and well made. I may even invest in some of the same ones of different sizes.

Decent cooler
Bought three of these to ship frozen salmon from my place in AK (temp: 53) to my place in NV (temp 95). I lined the cooler with bubble wrap to add a bit more insulation and cushion the filets, in order to protect the vacuum packs. Also, added insulation strips to the seal between the lid and the case. I laid 8 Koolit (solidly frozen) on top of the frozen filets. Since there was 6 inches of unused space between the interior of the lid and the top of the frozen items, I placed jackets, gloves, and some bubble wrap there. I did this to provide a bit more insulation and to prevent the salmon packs from being damaged while being loaded and unloaded by baggage handlers. Then put the coolers in a walk-in freezer until taking them to the airport. Unpacking them 36 hours later, everything was still solidly frozen for transfer to the house freezer. The coolers seem to be solidly built and sustained no damage during transit.

Best cooler I ever owned!
Bought this to replace a Coleman 48-Quart Performance Cooler and didn't want to splurge on a Yeti or RTIC.I took both coolers (Coleman and Igloo) on a three day tent camping trip where the daytime high was 76° - 77° and overnight low was between 52° and 63°. The Igloo was packed with a 30-pack and the Coleman had a case of water and two six-packs of soda. In each case, all contents were initially at room temperature. Each cooler was filled with a 20 lb bag of ice. After a 1-1/2 hour drive, I stopped at a convenience store, drained off the melt water from each cooler and topped off with ice (roughly 10 lbs. per cooler). At no time during the trip was any additional ice added to either cooler. After three days (72 hrs) at camp, no ice remained in the Coleman cooler while the Igloo 52 qt. BMX still had at least 1/3 (about 7 lbs) of ice remaining. So thrilled with the performance, I'm now planning on buying the Igloo 72 qt. BMX! I highly recommend the Igloo BMX coolers if you truly don't require the week-long performance capabilities of Yeti or RTIC coolers. It should be noted that the lid of the Igloo BMX doesn't have a gasket in the lid, although it has a groove that appears to have been intended for a gasket. I found window weatherstrip at Lowe's (M-D 3/8 x 3/8 model no. 43846) and installed it in the groove with adhesive strip on the base of the groove and the sealing edge nearest the outer edge of the groove. It turns out that it sealed so well that at times, due to condensation on the gasket and surrounding contact surfaces, the lid draws a slight vacuum when the lid just begins to open.
