This is exactly the plant light I wanted!
I’ve been looking for a way to add plants to a room in my house that is shaded by large trees. There are plenty of windows but very little light. Hence my search for a plant grow light. I wanted something that didn’t look industrial, could serve as a reading light next to a chair since I’d want to remove the floor lamp previously there, and one that would provide a reasonable amount of light to keep a few succulents from etiolating and a smaller houseplant from losing all its color. This does exactly that! The top of this shelf that is getting a decent amount of light is 28” long by 12” deep. I had no problem putting it together myself (although the screw was missing) and was easily able to set it up with a simple plug in timer so I don’t have to switch it on/off each day. I cannot attest to how my plants will like it but I see no reason to think they won’t! And if those plants not directly under the light seem to be unhappy I can easily rotate them.Edit- one year later and I am happy as I was at first! Plants are doing well, I can use the light to read by, it’s not a terribly offensive look and, with a timer, I’ve had no problem with the switch giving out. A winner!

Plants are thriving
I bought two of these lights for my plants because living in the Midwest means it won’t be very sunny the next few months. Last year I struggled with some plants not doing too well due to low light. One light I bought was new but packaging damaged in the warehouse. It came out of the box with zero marks or dents and has worked perfect since. The second one was used but was still mostly packaged like the new one. Upon thorough investigation, there’s one small scratch at the base but without looking for it, I would have never noticed. After assembling, it worked great for the first few minutes then no longer worked. I was worried I got a broken light. I bought a new bulb and it’s been working great ever since. My plants are thriving and growing! I love the look of these because they are like a modern lamp and can be tucked in close to my plant stand providing more coverage to more plants!

Huh?
I expected a lot more light! This is only going to work for low light plants. If you have plants that require bright or medium light then this lamp will not work for you.The things I like about this lamp is that it has a simple ON/OFF switch so I can plug it into my power strip and turn everything off at once. I like the heavy base…no way is this going to move or fall over (and it’s small). I, also, like the gooseneck’s ability to raise it higher and to point the light in any direction. It suits my needs, almost, perfectly. And for that I am grateful.

Love this lamp
I love this lamp! I bought it as supplemental lighting for some of my small succulents. They're in a north facing window that's adjacent to a west window, which means they actually do get some afternoon sun on sunny days, but they definitely needed some extra help with light. My winters tend to be pretty cloudy, and light is way more important than water when it comes to succulents.Tips on fluorescent grow lights in general: your plants need to be close to the light. This grow light won't be very effective for a small plant sitting on the ground, at least not a plant with high light needs like a succulent. My succulents are sitting on a stool, and they could still probably be closer, but I figured it would be ok since it's just supplemental lighting. Also, introduce grow lights slowly. My plants are on about a 12 hour cycle (though I have the light set to turn off in the hour or two when they get afternoon sun), but I worked up to that slowly. You don't want to give your plants a sunburn.Lastly, this lamp wasn't really that hard to put together. The cord inside the lamp is a little long for the pole, and it took a little effort to fold it so it fits, but it really wasn't that bad.Happy plant parenting!*note: the purple light coming from the right of the photo is from an LED grow light on another plant

Capacitor blew up
I bought this in 2019 and it worked almost 5 years. I thought the bulb burned out but no. The capacitor on the circuit board exploded. The plastic around it was melted enough that it wasn't worth trying to replace. Everything about the lamp was nice except for the cheap components that ultimately make it worthless.

For those with sad plants
I've struggled to provide adequate light for 2-3 ft tall plants while not overwhelming the room; I don't have anywhere except tabletops and radiators to put these plants, so I usually just put them on the floor and let them languish, sorry to say. They always got to go outside in about June, but besides that really never grew much.I bought one of these lamps, and another one, just because I loved it so much; I have hibiscuses, lemon trees, and a jasmine growing under them. Their growth is actually amazing! I've been gardening for years, but I've always been afraid of the work involved with artificial lighting. It probably doesn't get much more convenient than these lamps: they're are very pleasing to look at; it's easy to adjust the gooseneck; I have them hooked up to timers so I don't even have to turn them on or off. For anyone else wary of growlights but also sick of seeing their slouching plants, I'd recommend this lamp. If you find that you don't like it, I think you can actually use it to put a good bit of light in a room, or you can read while sitting in its vicinity.
