Q: Call me dumb, but I only can get 3 modes. High, low and red. How do you get flood and full?

Thank you for reaching out to Energizer. OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS: • Press 1 time for Spot & Flood. Hold down to adjust brightness. Light will flash at highest and lowest settings. Release to set light level. • Press 2 times for Spot only. Dimming not available. • Press 3 times for Flood only. Dimming not available. • On any mode, press after 2 seconds to turn light off. Q: does this use any AAA batteries?

Batteries came with it! And yes any AAA batteries.

Q: Does this headlamp have the ability to angle down for running?

Yes, it does. You can angle it down up to 90 degrees so it shines on your toes.

Q: Do these work well with lower voltage nimh rechargeable batteries? i've had too many devices destroyed by leaking alkaline batteries.

They work with any battery... however if you have a history of leaking batteries you should take the batteries out after use and put them aside. Apparently you are buying cheap batteries, or not using your device often enough. I am a jet mechanic and use my nightly, so I get new batteries twice a week.
