Great for Makgeolli
I bought this nuruk originally in Korea when I was in Andong and was fortunate enough to find it again on Amazon. Great nuruk and makes amazing makgeolli.

Good, but expensive
I have my first bath going now, it smells great. However, I'm seeing the price of Nuruk should be under $10

Does what it advertises. Strong drinks. Mix with water. Good drink.

It’s fine
This is fine for Makgeolli. I did switch to Choripdong Emzyme Powder (brand) because I could get it locally in STL. I’m not sure if there is a taste difference but I like the new brand because it’s local.

It works
The yeast was effective for making rice wine. Price point was ok considering it couldn’t be found locally.

Product was moldy
I bought this nuruk back in March 2023. The package indicates it's within date, but when I opened it to make a batch of makgeolli, it smelled strongly of mold, like moldy bread. Having never used this before, I wasn't sure if this was normal. After having mixed it with the other ingredients (sweet rice & water), the moldy smell persisted. I am familiar with the smells given off both by yeast fermentation and lactofermentation, but this was nothing like that. Doing some research on the internet, I discovered nuruk has koji in it, but that's supposed to smell sweet, like apples or honeysuckle, not like moldy bread. Unfortunately, it's past the window to return the product. Not only was this product a waste of money, but I also wasted 5 cups of sweet rice.
