Bronze Gear for 4 X 6 Metal Cutting Band Saw

I called and spoke with the gentleman that owns the store that was selling the parts. And he assured me that it would fit into my band saw, and it was the exact fit. Only thing I had to do was drill for a roll pin, and add oil and start cutting, it was a great replacement part and a great seller and I would buy again. Most people on the YouTube channel Don’t realize that you have to put the brass gear in first and then turn as you’re tapping the bearings shaft-worm gear down into it because of the way it all is designed.

I have a older 1983 saw and the brass gear wore out. The shafts did not fit my old saw and I had to drill a hole for the gear retaining roll pin that the old saw used. But all I needed was the gear and that with a little fitting( the pin hole) it works!

This gear (and shaft) was timely received and installed perfectly in my old unit. And I was extremely delighted to also find included, with my package, a replacement worm gear (and shaft). My old worm gear was also worn, I could not find a replacement, so I had reluctantly committed to hand grinding and reinstalling to make it work. I am delighted!!

Do not buy. Cheap soft metal, not the proper alloy. Wears out in no time. After a hardness test, it is confirmed that this is not the proper alloy or it is defective material. Nowhere near the same hardness as the original gear. Yellow metal safe oil was used, worm was in perfect condition, all bearings were tight. Proper lash was set, everything was lined perfectly as I have disassembled and reassembled many of these saws over the years. Gear immediately started stripping material instead of work hardening. Peels off like soft cheese with any real use. If you cut two or three things a year, maybe it'll work and you will think it's great. If you actually use your saw, buy a properly machine gear. This is chinese junk. And the seller does not stand behind it, I'm not disassembling my entire saw again to pay the return postage for this item when it was defective and proof was shown as such. Find a different vendor.

Bore size of gear shaft correct and tooth surface finish was very good. Tooth angle and radius cut was correct for my saw's worm gear. I had to reuse my saw's shaft, as it was totally different than the one that came with the gear. I had to drill a hole through the hub, as my worn-out gear was retained with a roll pin and drill and tap for a key-way set screw . All-in-all, this gear restored my saw from an anchor to a smooth running saw again with just a little fitting up to adapt it to my particular saw. Recommended.

Its not stated but this comes with the WORM GEAR as well. My old gear was 21 tooth and this replacement is 22. All I had to do was replace the worm gear as well. You do have to press off the bearing but they are not on real tight, it could most likely be done with a good vise and hammer. Both pieces fit great and the saw is more quiet that it ever was. Money well spent vs buying a replacement.

The media could not be loaded. Other reviewers were saying that it included the matching worm but mine did not. Unfortunately as a result you can see it has a ton of backlash. Guess I have to make a new worm if I want to use this saw. Easier than making this gear I guess.

I have the Black Bull saw people are asking about. The factory gear stripped after less than a year, with no available replacement.I ordered this bronze gear after taking some measurements. The black bull saw has one extra tooth but I knew that and it makes little difference considering that the belts can be changed for speed. Gear came real quick, installed with a C-clamp. Had a nice tight fit, so I did not drill the gear for the steel split pin. Everything meshes perfectly and I immediately cut a 4" stainless pipe. It gives me great pleasure to write a good review when these guys really nailed it like they did!
