Can I use D3500 lenses on this camera, or do I need an adapter?

You will need the FTZ adapter to use F mount lenses.

Has anybody actually tried to use ftz adapter with this camera? does it work?

Just get the FTZ or FTZ II adapter, and you can use any Nikon F-Mount lens on any Z series camera. Even my older AF Nikkor lenses worked flawlessly with this camera (some lenses you have to adjust manually, but the Z 50 will help you get tack-sharp pictures).

does it have a default setting?

Yes it does. It will default to factory settings when you do a reset from the main menu

Does this zoom in while making 4k video? Or which nikon camera can do it?

The Z 50 is an excellent camera for recording 4K video.
