High quality, made in the USA double edge safety razor
This Rex Envoy is one of the nicest razors I’ve ever used. Obviously there is some subjectivity to a razor (YMMV right) but the look, hefty/beefy weight, balance and feel is perfect for me. I would say the aggression/efficiency is medium, similar to the Rockwell S6 plate #4 maybe. Blade clamping is very tight with no chatter however there is some blade feel. The date code, name, and serial numbers are nicely etched into the bottom plate. The handle truly has some of the best knurling/grip of any razor I’ve used. My one issue is the handle length on the original Rex which I find to be too short. I ordered the longer Rex Envoy XL handle from Razor Emporium / Rex directly. This may very well be my best overall DE razor, right up there with Blackland, Timeless, Yates, Razorock, Rockwell, Karve, and I need to give a shoutout to Henson & Twig (love them or hate they are solid razors)…although my RAD will never be satisfied!Happy shaves!

Best razor I have ever owned
Arrived in a plastic bag and box was smashed with razor loose in the bag. That being said, the razor is a tank and suffered no damage. Bought to replace a Rockwell that had loose threads and no longer useable. The design is smooth and modern with a light polish and aggressive texture on the handle. Sides of the blade are covered and a date code is on the underside. As a lifelong 40+ years wet shaver I rank it as Medium aggressive - beginners beware. It instantly became the best razor I have ever used. The handle is a little shorter than I like, but manageable. Use with a light touch - too much pressure and it can irritate and cause red stuff to come out. Seems to prefer a little higher angle - approaching 45°. Price is high but should last several lifetimes. The best of the best.

Wow, just wow
So, it took me quite a bit to pull the trigger on this one as it is not an inexpensive tool to buy. I am super glad I made the decision to just say, "F it, I'm doing it.".The quality of the stainless steel razor that was made in the US is quite amazing in my hands (visually appealing too). Super grippy, you have to be a fumbling klutz to actually have this razor slip from your hands (even with wet hands). The razor assembles very easily, and I especially love the recessed entrance for the handle to go into the razor head. The handle is short (my prefference), so handling this piece is a breeze for me.How does it shave? Absolutely amazing is how I would answer that question. Finding that 30° angle, a light touch and let the weight of the razor do the work...phenominal!!!! I could feel the blade slightly, and I like that. This razor mowed through my whiskers without a hitch. I had 3 days growth (light to med growth, not too coarse hair) and this razor made the task seem effortless.I ALWAYS get some kind of razor burn or irritation after a shave (I have sensitive skin). After a shave with the Envoy and my current soap (T.O.B.S. Sandalwood), I have NO irritation and NO razor burn!!! What a delight!!!!So, in conclusion, I LOVE this razor for ME, as it does the job (very well) and leaves me feeling clean, smooth (bbs), and refreshed. This SS razor is definitely heirloom quality and will be handed down after I am long gone. Thank you and I hope this review helps anyone that might be on the fence with the Rex Supply Envoy razor. Just get it!!!

Consider this instead of Rockwell
After having a horrible buying experience with Rockwell, I looked into the Rex Envoy closer. Wow am I glad Rockwell screwed me over now. This razor is by far a league above the Rockwell. The material used, the quality of craftsmanship, and the user experience just exceeded the Rockwell. And the Envoy has nice little touches that show that Rex knows they have a quality product. The satin stainless steel is gorgeous, the weight is substantial, no razor tabs, no need to adjust, the laser etching is a nice touch with serial number. Each razor is personally inspected, and a cool sticker is included. The knurling makes a secure grip. USA made as well. I know the price is high, but you really are getting the most quality product on the market. Once you handle the Rex Envoy, you will agree. Smooth shaves everyone!

high quality safety razor with short handle. Very deep knurling.
I bought this because I wanted a 3 piece safety razor with a short handle to replace an antique Gillette razor I had a few years ago and have since lost. The price is very high for this sort of device but the fact that it's machined instead of die cast was a big draw. I have a few other safety razors already, you can see them in the other pictures. This Rex is pretty heavy, but compared to the 40 dollar Viking Blade razor it's just a few grams lighter. the Rex brand razor is quite a bit smaller and feels denser compared to the die-cast Viking Blade razor. the third razor is just a cheapo 15 dollar butterfly razor I bought about 10 years ago or so. I think it might be a Parker brand. But the Rex Envoy is by far the highest quality. The Rex brand and the Viking Blade brand razors both have knurling, but the Rex brand knurling is far deeper and sturdier and has a far greater grip. The Rex also has a small indentation in the bottom of the handle for a special kind of holder which is nice, it looks like it will hold a thin dowel rod.The packaging has a nice felt insert for it so it doesn't get scratched up during shipping which is a good touch. It would also double as a travel case in case you don't want to spring for the 120$ hardwood case offered by Rex supply co. Just need to put a rubber band around it so the lid doesn't pop off. The box packaging also has a little blip about the lifetime warranty. All in all even though this is a relatively expensive razor ($150) and has similar functionality to others, it has high quality craftsmanship and will last for a long time. I wouldn't recommend this for a beginner as there are a plethora of cheap double edge razors on the market that do the exact same thing. If you like using a DE razor and have been using one for a while, this is really the end-game for a non-adjustable.
