501 French Verbs, Eighth Edition (Barron's 501 Verbs)

Great resource! Much better than online hunt and peck.

This book is very thick - very comprehensive. I can see how it will really improve my French. Organised layout inside, a page for each verb.Book arrived in perfect quality.

I had a very ancient version of this book, lasted me for years and all through A level French.This new edition is VERY good, I am now using it for Open University French, quick and straight forward which is necessary when writing 2nd and 3rd level French, also great for beginners as verbs are shown conjugated in the most relevant tenses required.

All 14 simple and compound tenses laid out clearly for all the irregular verbs plus all the frequently used regular verbs(501 verbs). Plus guidance on how to form the tenses of a further 2700 verbs which are not actually treated amongst the 501 .The book also treats 55 "essential" verbs in greater depth, giving examples of use and colloquial expressions and derivations. Also there is an English/French verb index.I cannot recommend this book highly enough.

This review is for the paperback version of the book. I already have the Italian and Spanish editions, and have found them to be reliable and easy to use, though a bit unwieldy to carry around. I have used the Italian iBooks version my iPad for that and found it excellent, once I had learned how to get at what I wanted to look up. These books represent really good value for money and are an invaluable aid to the student of languages. Warmly recommended.

This is a really good book to have and helps a lot with my verbs but also the understanding of how and when to use.

We needed a reliable and comprehensive reference tool and this fulfills that, so much that it's kept constantly to hand. We both use to it daily to check our pretty appalling French. It arrives with two CDs which contain verb lists in MP3 format. I transferred them to our phones to listen too when we run. Sadly they just put us to sleep, not good when your running! The book is very good while the CD's are of limited use, at least to us.

Comprehensive - just as one would expect. However - it gives EVERY tense for each verb which makes the page rather cluttered and harder to navigate in a hurry (am always in a hurry) - and let's face it - how often do we need the 'plus-que-parfait du subjonctif in a hurry? Lots of other useful info though and 2nd hand, in perfect condition, a good buy.

I love this product. I am learning 3 additional languages and Barrons make it much easier from a beginner on, to conjugate verbs. Must have. I needed this when I started learning Spanish.
