The quality of this product is awesome. I have zero complaints and would highly recommend. This was very carefully wrapped and I really loved the note that was inside. I absolutely support small business and I hope for great things for this one in particular. Great product for a gift or for yourself. This was for myself :)

I got this for a friend of mine for his birthday. His birthday was still a few days away when it arrived but it looked so awesome that I couldn't wait to give it to him. He absolutely loved it. The Spartan himself looks identical to the one posted in the pic, and you could tell it was recently carved and oiled. Smooth and clean, it now sits in the middle of his dining table (it's too awesome to hide away in the kitchen) ready for action. The knives are great too, sharp and perfect. I'm actually a little jealous. Side note: the sellers are great too. They contacted me about what could have been a slight delay very soon after placing my order just to make sure that that was ok. They also included instructions on caring for the Spartan's wood (heh) by oiling/waxing it (hehe), as well as a nifty little chart on which knife goes in which slot. AND there was some candy in the box! I HIGHLY recommend them and this product, and I hope to do business with them again soon. Thank you Missing Digit!! Keep up the great work!

Only super-serious professional chefs will need more/better knives than what this set offers. For home cooking aficionados, these knives will cover all your needs and I expect that with proper care, they'll last many years. Plus, the Spartan holder is pretty rad, and it too is well made.For $200, you really can't go wrong. My only complaint is that because of how the knives sit in the shield, their edges are prone to faster (and uneven) wear unless extra care is taken to place them very gently. Still, unless you're totally careless, I doubt the blades are at risk of any serious damage. This minor design flaw is worth a penalty of maybe half a star.

Not mad well knifes don’t fit and it fell apart

I thought I would have to sacrifice a little on the actual knives to get this set but have been pleasantly surprised. These knives are sturdy and very sharp! The care instructions are cute and I appreciate their humor. And of course the knife block holder (Spartan) is amazing and every person who walks in my kitchen loves this! Other reviews mentioned the knives don't fit in all the way. But they aren't supposed to and it looks way better just how they made it! If you're on the fence- get this! You won't be disappointed!

A wonderful gift! I like mine and display it proudly in my kitchen. Not for families that have small children as the knives are clearly open and available for the touching or grabbing from many side-angles on those open and unprotected blades. My only concern was that the knives are "made in China", which might be an issue for some shoppers; however, to me these DO seem to be of a better quality, construction and design than other knife sets I've seen from there. I would buy this for myself or for a loved one (without children) as a gift.

I got this for my boyfriend's birthday. He loved it and showed everyone. It's cool looking and the knives were of good quality. I would've given it 5 stars but it came with a dirty patch on the wood that I couldn't get off of it. Nevertheless, he loved it and was super psyched. We also received it quickly and well packaged.

Love this little guy! Very well made and solid. The contrast between the Walnut shield and Maple body is striking. Don't expect the knives to fully seat into the slots of the shield. With wear they will eventually fit further into their slots and the craftsmen advise this in their product literature.The knives seem solid although I haven't used them yet so I don't know how they will keep their blades through time. That will be later review. There is no doubt that this knife holder will captivate visitors attention in your home. He is a real show stopper!
