Would it be suitable for catching squirrels?

Very doubtful, I’ve never managed to catch anything, the entrance hole to the trap wouldn’t really be big enough for a squirrel. The pressure plate/trigger is far too stiff - not recommended, sorry!

Plate inside snapped after first catch, surely they should do more than one catch, supplier not responded yet

That was probably a fluke, I’ve been using them since last year and they are great with no probs. The springs are still strong and they reset fine after each use or cleaning. I’m sure the manufacturer will replace your faulty one.

When I first set this I had a kill since then bait going trap not set off.. only used small amount? Any advice?

It won't work for small rodents, due to the weight needed to activate the trap, I've been lucky and had a few kills with small mice... The bait I used is peanut butter powder, and compressed it into the bait cup with the back of a tea spoon, seems to work most of the time
